Introduction
The assessment tasks for BSBCRT611 Apply critical thinking for complex problem
solving are outlined in the assessment plan below. These tasks have been designed
to help you demonstrate the skills and knowledge that you have learnt during your
course.
Please ensure that you read the instructions provided with these tasks carefully. You
should also follow the advice provided in the Student User Guide. The Student Guide
provides important information for you relating to completing assessment
successfully.
Assessment Requirements
Performance Evidence
The candidate must demonstrate the ability to complete the tasks outlined in the
elements, performance criteria and foundation skills of this unit, including evidence
of the ability to:
lead the process for addressing at least one complex workplace issue up to the
point of implementation.
In the course of the above, the candidate must:
identify task objectives and risks involved with pursuing identified problem
research legislative frameworks and applicable frameworks for identified problem
calculate resources required for solution development process
facilitate others in idea generation for possible solutions
present proposed solution to key stakeholders
use feedback to revise solution to achieve stakeholder approval
seek necessary approvals for the implementation of the solution.
Knowledge Evidence
The candidate must be able to demonstrate knowledge to complete the tasks
outlined in the elements, performance criteria and foundation skills of this unit,
including knowledge of:
legislative frameworks and organisational policy or procedures applicable to
identified workplace problem
critical and creative thinking techniques applicable to performance evidence

Assessment Conditions
Assessment must be conducted in a safe environment where evidence gathered
demonstrates consistent performance of typical activities experienced in the
customer service field of work and include access to:
organisational policies and procedures
opportunities to collaborate with others throughout the concept development
process
resources required to undertake research, prepare a brief and develop a
feedback register.
Assessors of this unit must satisfy the requirements for assessors in applicable
vocational education and training legislation, frameworks and/or standards.

Assessment details
BSBCRT611 Apply critical thinking for complex problem solving describes the
performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to use advanced-level critical
thinking skills in a professional context. This includes using methods of analysis,
synthesis and evaluation.
There are two assessment tasks/methods of evidence gathering. You are required to
complete them all. Your trainer /assessor will advise when assessments are due.
You may use various sources of learning materials including text books, student
guide, other documents and the internet. For you to be assessed as competent, you
must successfully complete the following assessment tasks:

Task Summary
This is an open book test – you can use a various learning resources
including online materials, student guide and other reference resources
available at the TasCollege to complete your task if required.
You must answer all the 11 questions correctly and sufficiently.
You must complete and submit an Assessment Cover Sheet with your
assessment submission.
Write your answers in the space provided or you need to type and print a hard
copy to submit (as per your trainer /assessor advice).
The assessment task is due on the date specified by your trainer/assessor.
Any variations to this arrangement must be approved in writing by your
trainer/assessor.
Access to Student Guide, Reference Text Books, and other learning materials
Access to the computer and the internet if you prefer to submit printed copy
Consult with your trainer /assessor if your answers are marked unsatisfactorily
and plan to resubmit as per their feedback – either in writing or verbally.

Assessment submission
You must complete and submit an Assessment Cover Sheet with your work.
The assessment task is due on the date specified by your trainer/assessor. Any
variations to this arrangement must be approved in writing by your trainer/assessor.
Instructions
Knowledge questions are designed to help you demonstrate the knowledge which
you have acquired during the learning phase of this unit. Ensure that you:

comply with the due date for assessment which your trainer / assessor will provide
adhere with TasCollege’s assessment submission guidelines
answer all questions completely and correctly
submit work which is original and, where necessary, properly referenced
submit a completed assessment cover sheet with your work
avoid sharing your answers with other students.

This is a project work – you can use a various learning resources including

In this task, you are required to demonstrate your skills and knowledge by
working through a number of activities and completing and submitting a
project portfolio.

2. Project planning
A) Make sure you are familiar with the business you are
basing this assessment on.
B) If you’re basing this assessment on your own business or a
business you work for, it’s important at this step that you
identify relevant stakeholders and have your business
approved by your assessor.
C) If you’re basing this assessment on the case study,
identify a relevant job role you’ll assume and any
relevant stakeholders.
D) Complete all pages of your Project Portfolio (Appendix A)
for this unit.
E) Read through the requirements of Section 1, 2 and 3 of
your Project Portfolio as well as the necessary
background information, relevant policies and
procedures.
F) Arrange a meeting with at least one stakeholder
associated with the business who may assist you to
identify a complex issue.
G) Prepare to use the financial and numeric information at
the meeting.
H) For the purpose of this role-play, your assessor or another
student can act as a one or more stakeholders.
