OLD TESTAMENTS
Genesis 10-12
NEW TESTAMENTS
Matthew 7-8
PSALM 4
PROVERB 18

PROMISE:
Abram traveled through the land as far as the site of the great tree of Moreh at
Shechem. At that time the Canaanites were in the land. 7 The LORD appeared to
Abram and said, “To your offspring I will give this land.” So, he built an altar there to
the LORD, who had appeared to him. (Genesis 12:6-7)

COMMAND:

The LORD had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s
household to the land I will show you. “I will make you into a great nation, and I will
bless you. I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.  I will bless those who
bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed
through you.” (Genesis 12:1-3) Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and
broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the
gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. (Matthew 7:13-14)
Tremble and do not sin; when you are on your beds, search your hearts and be silent.
Offer the sacrifice of the righteous and trust in the LORD. (Psalm 4: 4-5)

WARNING:

But the LORD came down to see the city and the tower the people were
building. The LORD said, “If as one people speaking the same language, they have
begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them.  Come, let
us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other.”
(Genesis 11:5-7) But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them
into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.  The rain came down, the
streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great
crash.” (Matthew 7:26-27) The words of the mouth are deep waters, but the fountain of
wisdom is a rushing stream. (Proverbs 18:4)

MESSAGE/PRINCIPLE:
“Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way, you judge others, you will
be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. (Matthew 7:1-2)
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be
opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the
one who knocks, the door will be opened. (Matthew 7:7) Likewise, every good tree
bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.  A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a
bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and
thrown into the fire. Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them. (Matthew 7:17-19)
APPLICATION:
There are wide gates that are simple to pass through, but people may lead us to
temptation and ruin. However, if we select the narrow gate, we will be given the
opportunity to spend eternity with the Lord. We have the option of living a righteous or
sinful life. At the end of the day, when the judgment day arrives, we will be awarded or
punished based on our earthly lives. Everyone has the ability to choose between good
and evil. Those who are good trees produce nice fruit, while those who are bad trees
produce awful fruit. The Lord will recognize us as sons and daughters of based on
which tree we want to become. It is up to us to choose between good and evil.
