Sensor Signal (Analog, Active) - Test

SMCS - 1439-038

Machine ECM
The following is a list of Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) associated with the active (analog) circuits
of the Machine ECM.

Table 1
Machine ECM (MID 299)
DTC Code Description System Response
Engine Oil Pressure Incorrect or erratic readings could result in the shutdown of
100-3 Sensor : Voltage Above the engine. The oil pressure is flagged as invalid (outside the
Normal acceptable range) by the Machine ECM.
Engine Oil Pressure Incorrect or erratic readings could result in the shutdown of
100-4 Sensor : Voltage Below the engine. The oil pressure is flagged as invalid (outside the
Normal acceptable range) by the Machine ECM.
Fuel Filter Plugged Incorrect or erratic readings could result in the shutdown of
460-3 Sensor : Voltage Above the engine. The fuel pressure is flagged as invalid (outside the
Normal acceptable range) by the Machine ECM.
Fuel Filter Plugged Incorrect or erratic readings could result in the shutdown of
460-4 Sensor : Voltage Below the engine. The fuel pressure is flagged as invalid (outside the
Normal acceptable range) by the Machine ECM.
3528- Atmosphere Sensor : Failure of circuit could result in reduced machine
3 Voltage Above Normal performance or shutdown of machine.
3528- Atmosphere Sensor : Failure of circuit could result in reduced machine
4 Voltage Below Normal performance or shutdown of machine.

Possible Causes for an FMI 3 Diagnostic code are:

• The power supply circuit for the sensor is open.

Service Information System Page 2 of 5

• The return circuit is open.

• The signal circuit is open or the sensor is disconnected.

• The signal circuit is shorted to the sensor power supply.

• The sensor has failed.

• The Machine ECM has failed. This situation is unlikely.

Possible Causes for an FMI 4 Diagnostic code are:

• The supply wire is open.

• The signal circuit for the sensor is shorted to ground.

• The sensor has failed.

• The Machine ECM has failed. A failure of the Machine ECM is unlikely.

schematic is electrically correct. However, not all of the possible harness connectors are shown. Refer
to the latest revision of Electrical Schematic , UENR5948 for the complete schematic.

Diagnostic Trouble Code Procedure

Note: Prior to beginning this procedure, inspect the harness connectors that are involved in this
circuit. Poor connections can often be the cause of a problem in an electrical circuit. Verify that all
connections in the circuit are clean, secure, and in good condition. If a problem with a connection is
found, correct the problem and verify that the diagnostic code is active before performing a
troubleshooting procedure.
