Crankshaft Main Bearings - Install

SMCS - 1203-012

Installation Procedure
1. Install the main bearings into the correct halves of the main bearing cap.

Note: Refer to the identification marks that have been made on the main bearings.

2. Position the upper half of main bearing cap (2) in position on the crankshaft. Position the lower
half of main bearing cap (4) in position on the crankshaft.

Note: Ensure that dowels (3) are in the correct position. This will ensure that the two halves of
the main bearing caps are aligned.

3. Install two bolts (1) .

Tighten the bolts on the 3003 Engine to the following torque:

Bearing cap of aluminum ... 22 N·m (16 lb ft)

Tighten the bolts on the 3013, 3014, and 3024 Engines to the following torque : ... 51 N·m (38
lb ft)

End By: Install the crankshaft. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Crankshaft - Install".
