Owner’s obligation of care
Safety
2 Safety
2.1 Owner’s obligation of care
The Global 90i milking parlour frame has been designed and constructed while
taking account of a potential risk analysis and after careful selection of the
harmonised standards and other technical specifications to be complied with.
It is therefore in line with the latest technical developments and guarantees a
maximum level of safety.
This safety can only be achieved in practice on the farm however when all of the
necessary measures have been taken. It is part of the farmer’s obligation of care
to plan these measures and check that they are carried out.
7123-9001-008
10-2004 9
Owner’s obligation of care
Safety
D the owner must draw up a set of operating instructions specially for the
conditions at his farm which again take account of the relevant safety
aspects in particular.
D unauthorized people (e.g. children) do not stand in the danger areas and do
not have access to the cleaning and disinfecting agents.
D anyone fitted with an implanted device (eg a pacemaker) should stay away
from designated areas.
D all personnel who operate, maintain, inspect or otherwise handle this
product read and understand the safety instructions and warnings in this
manual.
D the Global 90i milking parlour frame
- should only be used for its intended purpose.
- should only be used if it is in perfect operating condition and, in particular,
the safety equipment should be regularly checked to make sure it is in
perfect operating condition.
D trainee operating personnel may at first only work on the machine under the
supervision of an experienced person. Complete, successful training should
be confirmed in writing.
D the work to be carried out is performed by a sufficiently qualified person!
Attention!
Particular qualifications are described in the corresponding
chapters!

Basic safety instructions
Safety
Danger!
There are warnings about specific residual dangers in the
corresponding chapters.
Attention!
If the work requires special qualifications, these are described in the
corresponding chapters!
D There are dangers involved in the operation and maintenance of dairy farm
equipment. For your own safety, please carefully read and observe the
instructions (especially the section on ”Safety instructions”)!
D The chapter on ”Technical data” gives the permissible working conditions
(pressure ranges, temperature ranges, airflow quantities etc.) and these
must be observed!
D Do not open or dismantle devices (risk of injury)!
D Do not remove any protective devices (risk of injury)!
D When working with cleaning and disinfecting agents observe the notes on
dangers and protective measures (risk of caustic burns)!
D When working with products from other manufacturers always observe the
warnings from the safety data sheets and operating instructions from the
product manufacturer!
D Observe measures on protection against noise!
D Do not stand underneath suspended loads.
D Always keep the control cabinet / all electricity supply units / electrical control
units closed. Access is only permitted to authorized personnel with a key or
special tool.
D Protect live and high-voltage components against moisture. Under no
circumstances may water jets or high-pressure cleaners be directed at
these!

Personnel qualification
Safety
Anyone who performs work or activities relating to the machine must carefully
read the manual and sign to confirm that they have understood it and will act
accordingly!
In this respect
D all work on electric equipment and electrical connection work should only be
performed by trained electricians.
D all work on the hydraulic and pneumatic equipment should only ever be
performed by specialist personnel trained for this purpose.
D all welding work should only ever be performed by specialist personnel with
knowledge of welding.
In addition, special qualifications are required for the following activities:
D Transport
D Operation
D maintenance
D Cleaning
D Installation
D Commissioning
D Maintenance
D Troubleshooting
D Repairs
D Decommissioning

How the System Works
Description
D
F H
The Global 90i milking parlour frame is designed for single-sided and
double-sided milking parlours.
The animals enter the milking parlour through the entry gate (X). They are held
in the milking position by the exit gate (A), the deflector (L), the dung plate (F)
and the barrier (H).
The position of the animals is optimised for the operator by the individual
indexing of the gate elements in the exit gate (A).
The exit gate (A) releases all the animals at the same time at the end of milking.
The entry gate and exit gate are operated by means of pneumatic cylinders (D).
Operation is carried out using main control units which are installed near to the
entry.
If the compressed air supply should fail during milking, the animals can be let
out manually one at a time.
You can also let a single animal out of the milking parlour if you need to.
