(Conservatism is a type of political

belief that supports emphasis
on traditions and relies on the individual to
maintain society)1

It is a historical name - the Tories - a

centre-right political party in the UK - uniting defenders of the conservatism of British
junoism . The Tory party emerged as a group of supporters of absolutism.

The Conservative Party was founded in 1834 and was one of the two leading British parties in
the 19th century, along with the Liberal Party.

In the 1920s, the Liberal Party began to losevotes and became a rival to the Conservative
Party.

Conservative prime ministers led the government for 57 years in the 20th century, including
Winston Churchill (1940-1945, 1951-55) and Margaret Thatcher (1979-1990).

The party is a member of the Alliance of European Conservatives and Reformists (AECR), a
party at European levelll

The Party traces its history from the late 1670s,the oldest existing and traditionally respected
moderate-right political organization in the world.

The current leader (from July 2019) is Prime Minister Boris Johnson- before him in the
21st century, the party led by Theresa May ( 2016-2019), Michael Howard ( 2003-2005),
Iain Duncan Smith ( 2001 -2003) and William Hague ( 1997 -2001).

The official colors of the party are blue and green. There is currently no official anthem, but
most often in this capacity the song " Land of Hope and Glory1

" (music E. Elgar , lyrics of A. Benson) is performed.

Conservatives are one nation. The basis of conservatism is social cohesion with single
institutions that maintain harmony in the groups and classes concerned. Until recently, this
concept had no different races and religions. Purely their own people, citizens of their own
country, who have deep roots, pass on traditions from generation to generation. Now this
unity is greatly expanded, as there are many supporters of the European Union among the
Conservatives and Britain's presence in it.

Since its founding, Britain's Conservative Party has protected the interests of aristocrats and
the bourgeoisie, both financially and industrially, who have gradually left the Liberal Party

Britain's Conservative Party, however, has traditionally been popular with wealthy sections of
the population, and among aristocrats, its ranks are formed by members of the highest
military, clerics, many wealthy MPs and clerks.
