I. MATH VOCABULARY & KNOWLEDGE REVIEW

Topic Math vocabulary Math knowledge

 Factor 1. Factor and Multiple from Multiplication.

Factors and Multiples are different things, but they both involve
 Multiple
multiplication.
 Multiplication
 Factor are numbers we can multiply together to get another
 Prime
number.
 Composite

A number can have one, two or many factors.

 A multiple is the result of multiplying a number by a whole
number.

Factors and
multiples

 If number 𝑥 is a factor of number 𝑦, then number 𝑦 is also a

multiple of number 𝑥.
2. Composite and Prime number.
We consider all whole number above 1, they all have at least 2
factors, and could be divided into 2 subsets: Prime and
Composite.
 A prime number is a whole number above 1 that has exactly
2 factors: 1 and itself.
 A composite number is a whole number above 1 that has
more than 2 factors.

Math 1
 Fraction  Fractions which have the same value, even though they may look
different.
 Numerator
 Denominator
 Equivalent
Fraction
 Mixed
equivalence
number
and ordering

 You can make equivalent fractions by multiplying or dividing

both top and bottom by the same amount (other than 0).
 You only multiply or divide, never add or subtract, to get an
equivalent fraction.

When we add or subtract fractions, consider the problem to be easy

when the denominators are equal or the same:

Addition and
Subtraction
of fractions

 Line plot A line plot is used to represent any data in the form of dots or
 Data small circles.
 Frequency

Line plots

The dot plot is shown on a number line that displays the

distribution of numerical variables where a value is defined by
each dot.
