ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT SIWES

 ABOUT SIWES

SIWES is an industrial training program for engineering and

science students in their pen-ultimate year, where they get to
practice all they have learnt in the classroom for the past 3-4
years on the field.

The program ought to run for 6months/24weeks/168days

This seems like too much information already, let’s move on.

1. Should I do SIWES?
SIWES is a SIX(6) units course, so yes. It’s really easy to have
an A if you do the needful, that automatically means a 5.0 which
leads to an increase in your CGPA!!!

 2. How long should SIWES be for?

Minimum 5 months
.
If you have any unforeseen challenges, it is advisable that
you get in touch with your departmental SIWES
coordinator.

 Now to the steps.

What are the processes involved?

Let’s call it a checklist yes?

❑ Get a placement. A company preferably related to your course of study.

❑ Fill your SCAF form and submit with 2 weeks of starting your training.
The form is available on the siwes.lmu.edu.ng website labelled “SIWES
SCAF” (SCAF form filling in a later slide.)

❑ Fill the Google form created by the school. Also available on the SIWES
website labelled “IT Placement Information Form”. Please ensure you
use your webmail to fill the form otherwise, you will not have access to
it.

❑ Regularly fill in your logbook, try to get your supervisor to sign

monthly or even weekly to avoid stories that touch!

❑ Start drafting your report as early as possible, the person you

are depending on can sly you later on (I am just saying). Little
secret: Chapter 1 is easy just ask someone who has done it
before and take their advice (I am not saying more than this).

❑ Towards the end of your IT, you will be required

to fill and submit other forms( ITF Form 8 and
SIWES Form D) to respective offices(ITF Area
office and SIWES office in school)
❑ You’ll be notified when this is required. The
forms are available on the SIWES website

3. What is sort code?

Every bank has different branches and each branch has a different sort
code. The sort code will be used by the ITF officials to process payment
for persons who satisfied the requirements set by Government for the
SIWES program. This code is available online and/or at any bank
branch if yours isn’t near you.

 SCAF Form Filling

• ITF Area Office: Location of the closest ITF area

office to you e.g Ikea, Lagos
• Name of Organisation: the name of your… nvm
• Location Address: the location of the company,
not your house boss.
• Institution: Landmark University obviously pls
• Period of attachment: 4-6 months
• Date of commencement: Month, Year
• Date of completion: September, 2022
