Summary

The Silent Patient is Alex Michaelides’s debut psychological thriller, about an accused murderer who
refuses to speak and a forensic psychotherapist determined to make her talk. But will he like what she
says?. Just wait for the many side plots running through the story.

How good are the characters?/ Meet the characters

The story mainly revolves around Alicia and her psychotherapist Theo after she refuses to speak it also
has many side characters leaving their mark and painting a portrait of this story. All the characters don’t
make the story complicated instead they enhance the experience of looking at Theo’s investigation.
Once Alicia is shown as the charming dominatrix while sometimes we see her in a vulnerable space was
not expecting the ending

What about the writing style?

A vast character study with psychological point of view the story shows the sane as well as different side
of many characters, how they behave in the real world while on the other hand how they picture their
outer world showing different hardships and reasons to do what they did. Well-paced and clever
plotting. Michaelides achieved this by using tools of multiple timelines and storytelling mediums, Greek
tragedy analogy and complicated histories of characters.

Is the climax good enough?

The climax is totally unexpected and leaves us bewildered , shocked and dazed. The climax is great but
could be seen as a cliché if you look from Agatha Christie’s perspective . The ending is subtle and the
timing of it really takes it up a notch.

What did I like? / What did I not like?

Even after there are a lot of timelines going on the book is not at all confusing which sometime is an
expectation when there are a lot of characters the characters stay with you in mind and cannot be easily
forgotten they leave a mark on you and I definitely liked everything about the book.
