Overview

New Features & Enhancements

1. Additional Multimedia files can now be carved out of unallocated space and can be viewed within the ‘File Status’
list. Existing multimedia carvers have been updated. (FCR-2891)

2. FTK has been enhanced to support both L01 and LX01 images created in Cellebrite Digital Collector/Inspector.
(FCR-3047)

3. The thumbnail creation process for videos has been significantly optimized, with 70-80% improvement. (FCR-
3348)

4. FTK has been enhanced to process Office Internet Server Cache from NTUSER.dat and to display it in the ‘System
Summary’ tab. (FCR-2991) (FCR-3172)

5. FTK has been enhanced to support system images which are BitLocker enabled from factory but suspended.
(CRI-1194) (CRI-3433)

6. FTK now has optimized eDiscovery & Forensic processing profiles for indexing file categories. (CRI-1194)

7. Enhancements have been made to export only the selected family files from portable cases. By default, all
families for emails will be exported. No other file types are exported with families. (FCR-2975)

8. The following enhancements have been made for the FTK agents:
• The macOS agent now fully supports macOS Monterey. (FCR-3188) (FCR-2935) (FCR-2306)

• The Linux agent now fully supports the use of Ansible playbooks for agent deployments. Additionally, RPM
packages have been provided for RHEL 6/7/8. (FCR-1153)

Resolved Issues

1. Resolved an issue where Bookmark ‘Selection Comments’ were not displayed in reports if the indexing was
not completed during preprocessing, but would appear if indexing was completed during ‘Additional
Analysis’. (FCR-3177)
2. Resolved an issue where clicking ‘Create New Filter’ would produce an error. (FCR-3146)
3. Resolved an issue where the processed, enumerated, and indexed counts for datasets were incorrectly
displayed when using a PostgreSQL database. (FCR-3098)
4. Resolved an issue where some email metadata was not displayed in their related columns. The respective
columns have been added and can be found in the ‘Column Settings’ tab. (FCR-2993)

5. Resolved an issue where deleting a task would cause the application to crash. (FCR-2822)
6. Resolved an issue where the DPM (Distributed Processing Manager) configured in the DPE (Distributed
Processing Engine) was removed after an update. (FCR-2845)
7. Resolved an issue where HEVC file was not displayed in the Viewer when using the ‘Generate Common Video
File’ processing option. (FCR-2927)
8. Resolved an issue where viewing the PDF files in the viewer would sporadically crash the application. (FCR-
3648)
9. Resolved an issue where graphic files were automatically exported to the adtemp directory and EXIF
processing occurred even when the option was not selected during processing. (FCR-3630)
10. Resolved an issue where some 7-Zip files were not reporting accurate processing counts. (FCR-3539)
11. Resolved an issue where the ‘Create Thumbnails for Graphics’ processing option was indicated as not
selected by default (only in the system UI) for the ‘Forensic Processing’ profile. (FCR-3393)
12. Resolved an issue where objects matching KFF Alerts or Ignores would be removed accordingly, but database
optimizations would take significantly longer. (FCR-3319) (FCR-3298)

13. Resolved an issue where the ‘Search Criteria’ displayed incorrect hit counts in the query results. (FCR-2895)
14. Resolved an issue where categories selected to be excluded from indexing during preprocessing would not
remain checked during ‘Additional Analysis’ and could not be indexed when selected for indexing. (FCR-3510)
15. Resolved an issue where Linux Agent collections would fail failed on RHEL RPM 7.8. (FCR-3189) (FCR-1153)
16. Resolved an issue where the ‘User Credentials’ page would did not appear in the Exterro AD Connectors
installer. (FCR-3101)
17. Resolved an issue where no details were displayed in the 'Volatile’ tab for services when using the ‘Difference’
data view. (FCR-3042)
18. Resolved an issue where remote volatile jobs failed on Red Hat Linux systems. (FCR-3297)
19. Resolved an issue where logical and physical drive collections would fail failed on Red Hat Linux systems.
(FCR-3296)
20. Resolved an issue where ‘Remote Preview’ files which were selected for processing to a specific DPM would
cause application crashes. (FCR-5055)
21. Resolved an issue where AFF4 images would not process efficiently. (FCR-3290)
22. Resolved an issue where it was not possible to search/add ‘Entire Directory’ (trusted domains) when adding
trusted users. (FCR-525)
23. Resolved an issue where .ZIP file would not process efficiently. (FCR-3691)

Known Issues

1. The following carved video file types would not play in FTK. (FCR-3384) (FCR-3361) (FCR-3647)
• .flv • .avi
• .ogg • .mov
• .rm • .mpg
• .mkv • .m4a

Workaround: You can right click on the file within the file list and select ‘Open With’ > ‘External Program’ to
play it in a supported video player.
2. AFF4 images are not automatically processed. Users are expected to select AFF4 in expansion options for the
image to successfully process. (FCR-3443)
3. Contact information in emails; work address and home address are missing a space between addresses within
their respective columns. However, when viewing this information in the Natural viewer it is displayed correctly.
(FCR-3466)
4. When attempting to view large file types within the viewer, the file size warning appears multiple times despite
clearing the initial prompt. (FCR-3219)
5. ‘Total Hits’ count within the Search Criteria section sporadically do not correlate to the counts in ‘Index Search
Results’. (FCR-2895)
6. HEIC files do not get processed if only the ‘HEIC Conversion’ is selected during processing. Both ‘HEIC Conversion’
and ‘File Signature Analysis’ are required for HEIC files to process successfully. (FCR-3730)
7. When importing custom carvers, some carvers are being set as ‘User Type’ within the ‘Category’ column. This
has only been experienced when importing custom multimedia carvers. (FCR-3322)
