Unlike the traditional face-to-face classroom environment, online or virtual environment

is a bit difficult to manage. It is because Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) is
imaginary and not in the physical sense. It has no corners or walls and it can be set up
with the support of technology.

As a teacher, what have you discovered to be easy to implement in your virtual class?
To have a successful virtual learning environment there are factors to be considered. However, it
cannot be implemented all the way. Some of those are being discovered in the middle of the
implementation. As a teacher, I noticed that there are lots of shortcomings in the implementation
of this new mode of learning. The internet connect is one of the most common problem that the
students and even the teacher faces. Along with that there are learners who cannot afford to buy
their own school materials like phone, laptop, and WIFI. These hindrances create limitation in
the success of everyday classes. However as a teacher it is our responsibility to find adequate
solution about the problems that we discovered along with the execution of this virtual learning.
Together with the discovery of the problems there is also an opportunity for us to uncover the
things that might help us to improve the experience of our learners in virtual learning. Some of
those I had figured out in the duration of the virtual learning are; there should have at least one or
two activities that the learners should engaged to awake them especially that most of the time the
teacher is the one who delivers the talk and only rare instances for the learners. Creating rules is
also one of the way to make virtual environment harmonious and in order. It is also great to talk
to the parents before deciding to have a virtual learning class. Considering every situation of the
learners is a great start in implementing a virtual class.

How did the students show their active participation in the lesson?
Virtual class is far different from the usual face to face classes that we used to have. Virtual
classes are somehow a one way communication and most of the time the learners does not
participate in discussion since they were not pressured to do well or participate in the class
discussion. They aren't physically attending the class that's why their motivation is also affected
and it’s quite low unlike before. Thus, in order to persuade the learners to actively participate in
lesson discussion there should be some reward system as bait and their motivation with the help
of this student’s will be encourage to participate to get a reward in this way extrinsic motivation
takes place. Further, learners were active in answering the question when being asked by the
teacher. They follow the rules, guidelines and regulation that the teacher set in the very first day
of meeting. When activity came, all of the learners were enthusiastic in participating in the
activity. When being asked by the teacher they used chat box to answer the question. This is to
avoid chaos in the meeting. Opening all the microphone will lead to commotion and
misunderstanding. In this way the teacher will just read all their comments and react one by one.
These were just some of the way that the learners execute their participation in their online class

Analyze

Which of the following is/are your analysis/analyses of on-line learning environment?

Check one or more.

 It was difficult to observe the physical behavior of the students.

It takes time for students to learn how to use the platform.

 Students who are alone in their home space find difficulty to make responses.

 Internet connectivity is a great factor to support a conducive environment.

Reflect

As a future teacher I feel that the on-line learning environment can be safe if
As a future teacher I feel that the on-line learning environment can be safe if there is a guidance
of the parents or guardian in every virtual learning session. Not necessarily that they will guard
their child for the whole duration of the class, but they need to check from time to time whether
their child was really participating in the class or the other way around. Especially that the
learners are just kids, they have a short span of attention and the teacher wasn't there physically
to take action for it, the role of the parents were very important. They need to discipline their
child and also as much as possible there should be rules and regulation as the child is attending
online class. Aside from the rules and regulations set by the teacher in the virtual learning
environment, the parents as the sole person being present physically on the side of the learner
must create his/her own guidelines in order for the learner to give his/her full attention in class.
We all know that there are a lot of unnecessary things that can be discovered in the internet. This
is why learners should have guide to avoid these circumstances. The teacher will also have a
great role in this agenda. They were the one who will explain and talk to the parents about the
possible disadvantages given in using this mode of learning.

I think that teaching in a virtual learning environment is

Challenging in a way that it is quite far from the traditional way of teaching it is much
harder for teachers to monitor student’s behaviors and academic performance. Thus it also
requires teachers to be knowledgeable in terms of utilizing technology in teaching.
However, this growing need for the teachers to be technology savy isn’t that easy to do
we know in fact that there are still teachers who are stuck with the traditional way of
teaching but teachers are known for being lifelong learners so even though there are still
teachers that are having a hard time using technology they will somehow learn how to
properly incorporate it in teaching. More so, it is challenging because unlike face-to-face
online learning requires adaptability and change. You need to have patience in
accommodating the learners. As a teacher you need to know how to manipulate technologies
and the applications to be used in the class. You also need to have a strong connection to avoid
interruptions.

OBSERVE
Identify the problems brought about by the on-line learning environment.
As what I have observed, the challenges that is brought by online learning environment includes

 Anxiety

 Depression

 poor Internet service

 Unfavorable home learning environment, which were aggravated when students are
marginalized and from remote areas.

REFLECT

How would you solve this problem?

To solve this problem, we have to takes a lot of discipline and commitment. Online courses
also require students to follow a course schedule. We should always guide the students
throughout these days in order for them to do not abuse the use of technologies especially
during classes. We should also consider the availability of resources from the students.

PLAN

What initial plan do you intend to do to solve the problem?

In order to solve that particular problem, we should give students a moral support to make them
comfortable. We should also give them time and understand every situation they have to avoid
pressures. Let us explore and adapt the change brought by online learning so that we could
connect and understand each other.
