Students will be able to make a book using PowerPoint about weather . Students should use
pictures ,words and record themselves reading the book .

Lesson idea implementation:


Students will be working in groups to create a weather book using PowerPoint . This activity
will be introduced by talking about the weather and then moving on to the example that was

made . The teacher will go over each step of the process on how to make the book. The
teacher will then have written on the board and talk about the goals that the student will
need to make for this book. Students will be put into groups to do this assignment . Each
group will make a weather book using pictures and words inside of a PowerPoint . Students
will also be given the option to draw their own pictures and add them into the book as well as
digital pictures’ students will also add a recording of them reading the book as a part of the
project. The teacher will be walking around and helping different groups with their questions
and help in any way that group needs it . The students will then show the book to the class
and the teacher will comment verbally and written about the assignment for the kids as well
as their classmates will also give feedback on things they liked about the project. To end this
lesson the teacher will go over the goals that she had talked about in the beginning and have
students give feedback if they think they hit those goals . The teacher will also ask feedback
with the assignment in terms of easy or hard to understand what she may need to go over
next time . Finally, the students would return to their seats .

Managing engagement: Describe a way to use this technology in a way that gets students
actively involved in authentic tasks and contexts?
Students will co/use and co engagement with this activity to make this project as they are
younger but also working in a group keeps their engagement longer. Students will also be
learning and understanding the different goals and they learn together how to use different
parts of PowerPoint and get to collaborate on how they want their book to look, and the
different types of pictures being used and having to work together to create the book.
Universal Design for Learning (UDL):
This activity and technology help with learning experience as students will be working
together and learning how to work together to make a book. This gives students a learning
experience with working with others and how to use a tool like PowerPoint which they have
not used before .This tool supports engagement as students are not only learning PowerPoint
which is an exciting new tool . They are also doing it groups where they get to make the
choices for the book. Students are engaging in the entire process and are learning how to
work with others and collaborating with them as well which also keeps them engaged.
Overall, the students are having a diverse learning experience with their group and with the
tool and are learning throughout the entire activity.

Reflecting on enhanced learning:


This activity will impact student learning as it makes students learn and grow at all times.
Students are learning throughout this entire process and having to learn how to use a
different tool a well. Students are also learning skills like collaboration and how to work with
a group to finish an activity which will be helpful for the future. The part of the lesson I am
looking forward to the most is the part where the students are making the e book. This part is

not only the part where you will see students learn the most but see the creativity students
have even if they are only in 1st grade . Also, it would be interesting to see how the students
work in groups and seeing them learn how to collaborate with each other.
