The Common-Source Amplifier

➢ Objectives:
• To understand the operation and characteristics of a small signal analysis of JFET
(Junction Field effect Transistor)
• To investigate what influences its voltage gain.
• To understand operation and characteristic of self-biased common source amplifier
circuit using JFET.

➢ Equipments Used:
• 4 Resistors (100kΩ, 1kΩ, 1kΩ, 4.7kΩ)
• 3 Capacitors (2.2uF, 2.2uF, 100uF)
• AC voltage source (using Function generator)
• DC voltage source (From ETS trainer)
• Connecting wires
• Function Generator
• Oscilloscope
• DMM (Digital Multi-meter)
• JFET (n-channel)

• Experimental circuit

➢ Conclusion:
• This amplifier can provide medium input Impedance, medium output impedance,
medium current gain, medium voltage gain, reverse output with respect to input which
means output signal will be in 180 degrees phase change.
• From these characteristics, we can conclude that this amplifier can give high-level
performance over other amplifier circuits. Hence it is most widely used than other
amplifier circuits.
