The cast of Infinite Arts’, Godspell, rehearsed for four short weeks filled

with long, very long days. We have grown individually and as a community
through learning elaborate four-part harmonies, intense blocking, friend-
ship, and mentorship. I am extremely happy to observe the bonds between
different ages, and as a Senior, feel a sense of pride transferring my love of
school theatre to the next generation of Thespians.

While the preparation of Godspell passed so quickly, it has been in the

works for quite a while, since my 6th grade to be exact. In 2016 as a 6th
grader, the same age of many on stage today, I stepped foot into the Bel-
mont Ridge Middle School choir room and shyly auditioned for Jason Augus-
towski and Jill Kerr. I immediately felt their energy and passion and knew
The Little Mermaid was just the beginning. In the following months and
years, I performed in their shows as a kite flyer, radio DJ, a vampire and
many other roles.

Just two years later, I was able to direct alongside Jason and Jill for Belmont
Ridge’s performance of The Hunchback of Notre Dame. I found the experi-
ence riveting and knew my future involved directing. The following sum-
mer, I rejoined them to co-direct the morbid Sweeney Todd: The Demon Bar-
ber of Fleet Street. With each show, I grew and enhanced my own skills and
directing style. Full of innovation, Infinite Arts pushed through the height of
COVID performing five modernized Shakespeare pieces still discussed today
in the classrooms, coffee shops, and black boxes throughout Northern Vir-
ginia.

And so here we are, our June 2022 production of Godspell and my final di-
recting opportunity with Jason and Jill. This show has been incredibly re-
warding as I watch the cast gel, observe many dear friends preparing to
graduate, and celebrate new friends fall in love with theatre before my eyes.

I want to thank each member of the cast; I wish our time together was not so
limited. I challenge each of you to perform, express, and create. Your light
transformed our Blackbox into a beautiful city, and your dedication is admira-
ble.

Thank you, Mr. A and Mrs. Ker for introducing me to directing, I owe you
so much. I hope our “Director Buddies” group chat will remain active.
