Synonyms <list of other terms that have the same definition. where possible indicate
where the synonym is used>
Attendant
A person who stands on the forecourt and dispenses fuel to the customers.
In some circumstances, this person is responsible for the money of a limited
number of fuel sales. Otherwise, fuel sales are paid to the Cashier Operator.
Attendant Tagging
Attended Site
A site with staff that are able to finalize any disputes about payment while the
customer is on site.
Auto-calibration
The Tank Tables for Product Tanks are re-calibrated automatically by using the
volume data from both the pump sales data and the Tank Gauge System.
A Back Office Record is created for each cleared transaction. Each one has a
unique sequence number and, as a minimum, contains information about the

transaction: the number of the fuelling point, the grade dispensed, the price of
the grade per volume unit, the total monetary amount of the transaction and the
total volume of fuel dispensed.
The transaction data is available in xml files.

Blended Grade
Cashier Operator
Person responsible for operating the POS and the money present in the cash
register.
Dispenser
Synonyms Pump
This is the generic name for an automated payment terminal. This can be one
of the following types: OPT, CRIND, etc.
Note: These payment terminals can contain a Bank Note Acceptor (BNA).

Fallback Mode
Fuelling Mode
Fuelling Point
A physical point where fuel can be dispensed to only one vehicle per fuelling.
A fuelling point may have multiple hoses, but only one can be used at a time.
A fuelling point can dispense one or more Grades, but only one at a time.
Abbreviation Fp
Provides monetary and/or volume totals for the specific Fuelling Point.
Note: The Fuelling Point Totals are calculated by the forecourt controller.
Grade
The fuel dispensed to the customer on the forecourt. This may be a mix of 2 or
more Products.

Grade Options
The Grades available from a specific Fuelling Point. These may be selected ei-
ther by nozzle or by push button.

This is a parameter module for the PSS Application program. It contains coun-
try specific parameters, such as decimal point settings, and parameters to con-
trol functionality required by local legal authorities.
Note: All PSS Applications require a LAM.
Abbreviation LAM
An Independent unit that scans for fuel transactions in the communication be-
tween the Forecourt Controller and the Fuelling Point.
Post-payment
Pre-payment
Payment must take place before a fuelling can start. Pre-payments can involve
possible refunds, as fuelling can be stopped before the prepaid amount, which
was sent to the dispenser, is reached.

Pre-set Volume
This enables a dispenser to stop when a pre-set volume of fuel has been dis-
pensed.
Price Pole
A sign that displays the prices for the grades sold on site.

Pump Totals
These totals show the total monetary amount and/or volume of fuel dispensed
by a Fuelling Point. The Pump Totals are calculated by the dispenser controller
head.
Note: Pump Totals and Fuelling Point Totals are associated, but calculated by
different devices.
Reconciliation
Service Mode
Service modes determine authorization control and how payments occur. For
example, are the payments made before or after the fuel has been dispensed,
are payments made via a POSor a EPT.
Each service mode is defined by changing the values for a set of parameters.

Stand-alone Site
A site with no staff or POS. It is not possible to finalize any disputes about pay-
ment while the customer is on site.
Tag Data
Data stored on a physical Tag that can be read using a specific reader. Tag data
can be divided into 2 types:
• Static: data that does not change over time or usage, e.g. vehicle ID or user
ID.
• Dynamic: data that changes with time or usage, e.g. engine hours.
Tank
A container that holds a fuel Product. Typically, but not always, these are un-
derground.
Tank Table
A series of parameters used for the algorithm that converts height to volume
in the Tank Gauge System. The tank tables are typically proprietary for the dif-
ferent tank gauge systems.
Abbreviation TGS
Totals
A generic term that refers to sales totals available from a Fuelling Point. It can
be both Fuelling Point Totals and Pump Totals.
