Remarks: A9 fOr steel bars cut out from a coil product, sampling
method of coil shall be applied to the origioal coil from
which the eteel bars are cut out.

(2) Test piecea used for tests of tensile strength, proof stresa, and
elongation, regardless of dimensions, ahall conform to No. 2 te8t
piece specified io JIS Z 2201.

(3) For a test piece for relaxation test, select any one piece or any
one coil when rnw mattriuls or o mnnufnoLirhg pronn«o tn

eample the test piece from its one end.

Further, a test piece uaed for relaxatioo test shall have a

suitable length capable of carrying out the test in 8.2.3.

8.2.2 Tensile teat The tensile test shall be as follows.

(1) Tensile teat shall be made in accordance with JIS Z 2241.

(2) Tensile strength shall be determined by dividing the maximum load

during the test either by the actual croas-soctiooal area or by
nominal croas-sectional area (Table 5), each measured prior to the
test, whichever ia the larger.

(3) Proof stress ahall be determined by dividing a load for permanent

eloogatioQ of 0.2 % either by the actual orosa-sectional area or by
the nomimel cross-sectional area (Table 5) of a test piece, each
measured prior to the test, whichever is the larger.

(4j The gau8e length for measuring elongation shall be eight times the
nominaJL diameter.

8.2.3 Relaxation test For a relaxation test, grip a test piece at an

appropriate dlstance at ordinary temperature, apply to the test piece a
load wherein a value equivalent to 70 % of tensile strength given in Table
4 is multiplied by the nominal cross-sectional area at a rate of 200 1.50
N/mm’ per mioute in loading speed, grip the test piece for 10CO h after
keeping
the load for 120 .*’ 2 see, hold the die t:ance as It 1s , and measure the
reduction of tlie load . Then, take the percentage of the reduced load to the
or1g1na1 load as the relaxation value .

8.3 Measurement of dimensioos For meaaurement of dimensions, the

maximum diameter and the minimum diameter in the same crooa-section at ao
optional position shall be obtained.

9. Inspection

9.1 Inspection The inspection shall be as follows.

(1) Geoeral matters common to inspection shall be as given in JIS G 0303.

(2) The chemical composition shall conform to the requl renenta spec1£led

(3) The mechanical properties sh‹z1l conform to the requtrcments spectficd

the Sirat test piece was taken and on two pieces from one end each of
other two rods or coils in the same lot. If the results of retestm mode
on theoe three test plecee cooform to e11 requirements, the lot shall be
considered to be acceptable. If any of the three fails to meet the
requirements, the lot shall be rejected.

10• Harking Steel bars having paased the Ins pectlon s hull be marked on
each bundle ulth the I ollowing lteas by a sultable means .

(3) Quantity or mass

(4) Identlf lcatlon number ulth which the aanufacturlng processes of the
product can be traced.

(5) Heuoufacturer'e name or abbreviation

11. Report The manufacturer shall aubmit to the purchaser the

specifica- tions whioh deaoribea the symbol of grade, designation, maas,
identification number with which the manufacturing proceasea of the
product can be traced, mechanical properties (proof atresa, tensile
strength, elongatioo), and chemical composition (for P, S and Cu).
