Our Pride and Joy

Hello and good day to all. We gladly welcome you to our beautiful suburbs, Serendah. We come
from a small district of Hulu Selangor which is on the north side of the state Selangor. We are so
happy and blessed to be part of this project as it tickles our creative side as well as a good platform
to share about our humble neighbourhood.

We named our group Bricks Marvel as we intend to marvel everyone with our spectacular
idea and show you what can be done using only Lego’s. There are 8 of us, consist of 6 pupils under
the supervision of 2 teachers. We share the same traits which is the love for Lego and its endless
possibilities.

For this project we choose two main hotspots which have been associated with our
hometown of Serendah. These places not only common among the local as our favourite weekend
getaway, to have a small picnic and relaxation, but also a famous spots among the neighbouring area
as well. We proudly bring to you our pride and joy which are Telaga Tujuh ( The Seven Wells) and
also Serendah Waterfall.

The Seven Wells is an old structure build by the British government for almost 100 years
ago. Serendah area, is very prone to flooding as it is situated on a low area surrounded by hills,
hence the name “Serendah’. During the British residency, the area was famous for tin mining, and
this later contributes more to the flood problem. By building the wells, it helps to reduce this matter
as the vertical concrete wells were embedded into the river bed and act like plug holes to allow the
water collected in the upstream lake to flow out to the dam.

Serendah Waterfall or also known as Templer Kai is a great recreational area that often
packed with visitors on the weekends. It is located in the indigenous village on the hilly area of
Serendah. Even though the waterfall seems small and shallow, it offers gushing water that is
refreshingly cold that splashes onto those who sit by it. Truly a hidden gem.

Judging by the beauty and the significance of these two places, that’s what inspired us to
choose them and try to replicate them into Lego bricks. We use Lego Classic, Lego Dot, Lego City and
Lego Creator to visualize our idea. The Lego category that’s being used are slope bricks, clear panel,
curve tops bricks and many more. It took around 1500 pieces to replicate these beauties. We hope
that with this interesting project, we can share and highlights the uniqueness and charm of our small
humble neighbourhood of Serendah. May it also brings luck for our team. Thank you Lego for this
amazing opportunity.
