Is It in Balintawak or Pugadlawin?

Balintawak
In LPU’s Students Debate Video about the First Cry of Revolution, they debated on where does the First
Cry happen. In the video, we can also know where it is happening so that our confused mind will
disappear. They made the debate video because a lot of Filipinos and Me didn't know or were confused
about where it has happened.

According to what I watched in the debate video, I support the opposition or the Balintawak group
because they have a valid source about where it is happening. They said that Guillermo Masangkay is
the eyewitness which is the Katipunan General he was also a friend of Andres Bonifacio, Bonifacio is the
president of the revolution. I support the opposition because Guillermo is a General and a friend of
Bonifacio so his words have credibility. He said that on August 26, 1896, there have a meeting in
Balintawak, at the house of Apolonio Samson the captain of the revolution and he also funds the
revolution, according to him that he remembers who attended the meeting, was Bonifacio, Jacinto,
Pacheco, and Carreon. They were all leaders of the Katipunan. Delegates from Bulacan, Cabanatuan,
Cavite, and Morong were also attended. They meet at nine o’clock in the morning, they talk about
where are they gonna do the revolution, but Teodoro Plata, Briccio Pantas, and Pio Valenzuela are
opposed to it because it’s too early to start the revolution. Because they think that Filipinos will be
surprised and don’t have proper preparation, and then Bonifacio goes outside because the leaders are
fighting inside the house of Apolonio. When he came out he sees the Filipinos and then he said “if we
don’t start the revolution, then when? The Spaniards gonna occupy our country so what will you gonna
say?” and then the Filipinos said Revolution. Bonifacio wish that the Filipinos will promise it because
they gonna do the revolution, he also said that the sign of the slavery of the Filipinos was the cedula, so
pulled out their cedulas and tore them apart. It was the beginning and the declaration of revolution to
separate the Filipinos from Spanish rule after that Bonifacio returned to the session hall and informed
the leaders what happened outside. “The people want to revolt, and they already destroyed their
cedulas.” So now we need to start the revolt because if we didn’t start it, a lot of Filipinos are going to
die. And then the people outside shouted, “Long Live the Philippines”.

In conclusion, I was amazed at the content it was a very informative debate. It shows where has the first
cry happened, I learned a lot of things from the debate which is where it has happened and what
happened to that place.
