Directions: Identify whether the following statement is a RULE or a LAW. Justify your
answer by means of citing a legal basis that will support your explanation.

1. You don't go to school on Day of Valor


Answer: Law
Explanation: According to the law, we are not permitted to attend school on the Day
of Valor in order to remember and honor the Filipino and American soldiers who
fought against Japanese forces during World War II.

2. When you're driving, you stop at a red light.


Answer: Law
Explanation: According to the law, whenever you approach a red light, you should
always come to a full and complete stop.  Failure to abide by this law may result
fixed penalty fine in place of taking the case to court, and worst case scenario, it
could lead to fatal accidents.

3. In the canteen, Sarah and her pals always sit at the same table.
Answer: Rule
Explanation: I believe it is a rule made by Sarah and her friends to make it easier for
them to find a table that is suitable for them.

4. Every child is required to attend school until they reach the age of 16 or acquire a
diploma.
Answer: Rule
Explanation: I think that this in not a law because there is no law regarding this
matter. I assume that this rule could be created by parents, and it is also our
responsibility to have an education.

5. In primary school, pupils walk in a single file line down the hallways.
Answer: Rule
Explanation: This rule was devised by principals and teachers in order to keep
students organized and to regulate their walking speed.
