Module Title: RESEARCH PROJECT II: PROJECT PAPER


Module Code: MNR 7056

SUMMATIVE ASSIGNMENT
WRITTEN REPORT OF THE PROJECT PAPER

You are required to develop a research project paper based on the proposal prepared in the previous
semester (Sem 2) as was approved by your supervisor and the committee members. The sequence of the
project paper should be as follows. The purpose of this assignment is to provide you experience with
deigning a research study and writing a research report. The benefits are both academic and
professional-as this is a common genre in academia.

Chapter one: (INTRODUCTION)


1. Introduction / background
2. Problem statement
3. Research objectives, questions and hypothesis.
4. Significance of study
5. Variables, e.g., independent, dependent and extraneous.
6. Operational definition

CHAPTER TWO (REVIEW OF LITERATURE)


1. Introduction (this gives the reader direction for the content covered in this chapter. Generally,
one short paragraph is sufficient).
2. Review the relevant theoretical literature
3. Review relevant research - discuss the existing scientific knowledge base of your research
problem. Identify gabs in the knowledge base and make a link to your study.
4. Introduction to theoretical framework conceptual framework.
5. Present a nursing theoretical framework

6. Explain the theoretical framework (describe relationships among concepts and define relevant
concepts) and link the model to the study purpose.

CHAPTER THREE (RESEARCH METHODOLOGY)


1. Introduction (give the reader the direction for the content covered in this chapter)
2. Research design (2-3 sentences are sufficient)
3. Defining and describing the setting of the study
4. Determining the population of the study
5. Discuss the sampling size and the sampling method(how you selected your sample and what
method applied to select them)
6. Instruments (Explain the instrument will be used to collect the study and justify why the selected
instrument was used)
- Attach copies of the instrument in the appendix.
a. Describe the scoring of the method
b. Briefly discuss the reliability and validity of the instrument
c. Discuss the reliability, e.g., Cronbach alpha and inter-rater reliability.
7. Procedures
- Explain in details and step by step the procedures of data collect.
- Place sample of the data collection forms, if any, in the appendix and refer to it in the
procedures.
- Describe the plan of organizing , recording and storing data (3-5 sentences are sufficient)
- Ethical consideration (discuss the ethical issues you applied for collecting the data and the
procedures for obtaining informed consent as well as explanation that will be give to the
subjects. Attach all ethical letters in the appendix.
- Describe the data analysis procedures.

CHAPTER FOUR (RESULTS)


 Introduction (give the reader the direction for the content covered in this chapter).
 Results must be discussed based on the research objectives.
 Use the tables. Graphs and pie chart as necessary.

CHAPTER FIVE (DISCUSSION)
 Introduction (give the reader the direction for the content covered in this chapter).
 Discuss the results of the study in terms of significant or not significant.
 Connect your discussion to the literature.
 Provide recommendation based on the result of study.
 Explain the limitations of the study.
 Conclusion.

GUIDELINES:
 Your project paper should run between at least 12000-15000 word, not counted the citation,
references and the appendices.
 You must complete your assignment using Microsoft Word.
 You will be required to submit a hard copy and soft copy of your assignment via e-mail.
 You must use Arial (11) or Times New Roman (12) and the text must be 1 ½ line spaced.
 References must be presented using APA system.
 You must support this assignment with at least 10 references.
 Please note marks will be deducted from the final assignment mark for student who is 10% under
the word limit.
 Marks will be deducted for grammar and spelling errors and for reference errors as well.
 Plagiarism is an offence and it is taken very seriously.
