Rising of Powers in the Developing Countries

Globalization is the reduction or total removal of borders between the economies

of different countries. The world would be transitioning into one global economy with

fewer trade barriers under the concept of globalization. With this, conceptualizing a new

development under the system of a country can revitalize the purpose of evaluating the

social status of every individual living in the area. The South-South Cooperation aims to

give back the development that could change the entirety of the classes. This concept

pursues to provide concrete planning for the development which prioritizes the poor as

compared with the dominant party –the North.

In the article, there are three main points that I have practically learned and

applied to my knowledge. First, I have learned that there is such a thing as the South-

South Cooperation that has been a political movement introduced globally. Aligned with

this, it was said that the SSC was made to re-evaluate and challenge the other

dominant party; wherein the SSC truly believes that a country should know its rights and

promotes peace around the nation. This movement conquers to solidify practical

solutions that could lessen the problems surrounding the Third World economic and

political issues. Second, neoliberal economic globalization does not feed the lower

classes because this position does not appear as a help for them rather it became a

struggle to gain or cope with enough resources that are fairly distributed to everyone.

The financial and economic crisis led by the neoliberalism concept gave various

problems and drastic changes that intensified multiple crises in the land. Lastly, I have

learned that globalization cannot be an advocate for helping the countries to develop
further by using free market or open trading because the trade does not circulate

properly, and the economic trade will not be distributed fairly.

Upon reading the article, there are still some points that needed to be cleared to

me, and here are the things that I want to clarify. First, organizations such as World

Trade Organization showcase a capitalist effort wherein it holds accountability in

gathering funds from the countries that are capable of having maximum trade, but in the

year 2003, developing countries had a failure in meeting the demands laid by the

organization. Second, it was stated in the article that the issues addressed in the SSC

by the contributors have failed to find potential agreements. Lastly, China and Russia

are overly executed in the article when they are actually more resistant to gaining

strength than the developing countries.

Globalization is explained as a way to endure and escape a poor estate that

could improve the lives of the people and I used to think that way. Capitalism is rooted

in our system. We cannot change the fact that everything that we consume and produce

–is actually a product of capitalism that engraves us to be a worker under the hands of

the higher class and exploitation is also a product of it. In every community, there are

people who do not need the thinking of the people who have money because they have

been living in a different setting. Higher officials should have a communication with the

community because enabling a concept that handles a largely economic trade can be a

risk to its pathways in being a developing country. And before I end my conclusion,

there are three questions that I want to know, first one would be; Why is it WTO is
described as a firm stand to protect the Third World states in the South against the

North? When in fact this organization is a ground for global capitalism –is it because this

is the only international organization that handles every global transaction in trading?

The second question would be the; Do the South-South Cooperation have the views of

capitalism and just hide in the borders of solidarity because of the poor? Last but not the

least; Why are powers should be an actual revenue in order to justify the needs of the

higher classes where economic and political movements are there to give a practical

solution for the developing countries?
