Inilabas ang larong Space Invaders. Ang Space Invaders ay itinuturing na larong nagpabago sa industriya
ng video game. IT ang unang blockbuster na video game. Ito rin ang simula ng genre ng Shoot ‘em up at
dahil ang paglabas nito ay nagkaroon ng maimpluwensyang epekto sa karamihan ng mga laro ng
shooter.

1980

Unang inilabas si Pac-man sa Japan. Ang laro ay napakapopular at isa sa mga pinakakilalang laro sa
mundo.

1984

Ang Tetris ay orihinal na nilikha sa Russia ni Alexy Pajitnov. Ang laro ay isang tile-matching puzzle video
game. Ang laro ay isa sa mga pinakasikat na laro sa mundo at hanggang ngayon.

1985

Ang Super Mario Bros ay isang platform game na binuo at inilathala ng nintendo at unang inilabas sa
Japan. Masasabing si Mario ang pinakamalaki at pinakamaimpluwensyang karakter ng video game na
nagawa.

Famicom was released with controllers with square A and B buttons. After many Famicoms were
recalled in 1984, the controller was updated with the circular buttons which most people came to know
and love.

1985

The NES was first released in Japan in 1983 know as the Famicom, it was an 8-bit video game system,
that changed the way we played video games for ever. The Original Nintendo was the best selling game
system of its time. The Nes fell out of favor when the 16 bit systems were later released.

1990

This was Nintendo’s 16 bit system to stay current in the video game market. The SNES was the best
selling 16 – Bit Video Game System of it’s time.The original price was $199.99.
1992

The Saturn really was just an expansion module for the genesis. The idea of the Saturn didn’t really go
over very well due in part, that for the price it didn’t bring much results. The graphics weren’t any better
either, but the design of the system was by far the best yet to come.

1993

Atari jaguar This was the last system ever produced by Atari. They say the reason for this system failed,
market and overall failure was due in large part to poor commercials. Sales price of this unit in 1993 was
$250.00

1995

Sony brings the PlayStation to the U.S. and sells the console for $299. Nintendo releases the Nintendo
64 in Japan (it’s released in the U.S. in 1996).

1997

PlayStation is considered by many in the industry as most popular game console as the 20 millionth unit
is sold. Tiger introduces a multipurpose handheld console to compete with the Game Boy. Called
game.com, it features games, an address book, calculator, and stylus for touchscreen capability. It also
connects to a PC modem for access to email. Arizona attempts to restrict the distribution of violent
video games by making it illegal to display or distribute violent material to minors. The pro

Sega introduces the Dreamcast in Japan. This console operates on Microsoft Windows CE which will
allow for easier conversions between Dreamcast and PC games. The Wal-Mart retail chain decides to
ban over 50 video games that it deems inappropriate for minors

2001

Microsoft and Nintendo introduce their next-generation systems within days of each other. Microsoft
claims its Xbox offers “the most powerful game experiences ever.” The product (estimated retail price of
$299.99) comes with a built-in hard drive and Ethernet port. Nintendo’s GameCube (suggested retail
price of $199.95) delivers new forms of interactive gaming for players and an easier development
environment for game creators. Sega announces that it will no longer manufacture hardware. Nintendo
2004

DS

Nintendo releases the Nintendo DS, a portable system with two screens, one of which can be used as a
touch screen.

2005

Sony releases the PSP, a portable system with a large, high-resolution display. Microsoft unveils the
Xbox 360, a console system to be released in November 2005.

2006

Nintendo releases the Wii, a gaming system that lets gamers use the controller in revolutionary ways,
such as swinging it like a tennis racket, holding and tilting it like a steering wheel, and more. Sony also
debuts the Playstation 3, a very sophisticated and expensive game system.

1997

The fist known mobile phone game was snake on the Nokia. Now thnaks to advancements mobile
gaming have taken on a whole new life with games like Angry Birds entertaining millions of people all
around the world. Though most gamers frown upon mobile games, one can’t deny that mobile games
make up a lot of the gaming market.
