Overview of the Learning Environment

A learning environment, traditionally called the classroom, is a space in a school that
supports student learning. It is a self-contained area where teacher teaches and children learn. In
the classroom are chairs or tables for students and a front table for the teacher. This a traditional
face-to-face classroom. Most often the students should face the teacher as the chairs are arranged
that way. But as teaching deliveries changed to enhance learning, modification in the seating
arrangement evolved and more opportunity for the learners to move about for cooperative learning
was addressed.
A conducive learning environment should have the following characteristics:
• Flexibility There is opportunity to have small groups, movable walls.
• Openness Learning corners/areas which could be shared.
• Access to resources - Audio-visual materials are ready and open for use. Physical
classroom - Space is clean and safe.
• Psychological atmosphere - It is friendly and accommodating.
The classroom climate nurtures the intellectual, physical, social and emotional
development of the students.
Here are some specific strategies for developing the optimal classroom climate. You may
consider these
1. Learning environment addresses both physical and psychological needs of the students
for security and order, love and belonging, personal power and competence, freedom and
fun.
2. Create a sense of order. For example, teacher should teach students how to
• enter the classroom and become immediately engaged in the activity;
• distribute and collect materials;
• find out about missed assignments due to absence and how to make them:
• get the teacher's attention without disrupting the class and
• arrange desks, tables quickly and quietly for various purposes.
3. Greet learners as they enter your face-to-face or on-line classroom.
4. In a healthy and conducive learning environment, everybody belongs and knows each
other.
5. Encourage class building activities like games and team activities.
6. In a conducive learning environment, success whether small or big is recognized and
celebrated.
Both approaches, either the traditional face-to-face or online, lead to positive results but in
different ways, so usually in practice both approaches are combined.

What will you do to assist your mentor in setting up a conducive learning environment in the
following conditions:
1. Bulletin Board Display

Suggest to the resource teacher to make a bulletin boards that challenge students to interact
with them can engage them in the learning process more effectively than static display
bulletin boards. Static bulletin boards can become simply part of the classroom décor after
a few weeks, while interactive bulletin boards that change according to topical lesson plans
can hold student interest and help different kinds of learners assimilate the new material in
their own way and at their own pace. By allowing students to help create bulletin boards
and to interact with them, students take ownership of the classroom and of their own
learning experience. Students are challenged to be active learners and to actively seek out
new information, to create new artwork, or to achieve higher grades that will be displayed
on the boards.

2. Small Group Discussion

Stay neutral. Your role is to create the process and conditions that enable a group to
discuss, plan, decide, learn, or grow (PDF). Conduct the discussion without trying to direct
the group to a particular outcome. Achieve learning objectives. Instructors need not be as
neutral as facilitators, but you should strive to bring out the voices in the group, saving
"teaching" behaviors until the group has explored the subject

3. Checking class attendance in a virtual classroom (i.e. google meet or zoom)

I will facilitate the google class room or any apps that my resource teacher is using. I will
help her checking the attendance of the students
Learning Environment 1:

• What have you notice of the display in the class bulletin board? What
message or theme does it convey?

The board display can be found on the walls at the hallway of the grade ten
and grade eight classrooms. Yes, it is place where target. The display is all about
TLE class. It messages that can be read is all about Food pyramid. We can see
different foods and fruits and the background is color orange. The biggest image is
place at the center of the rectangular board. There are also cards on the left and right
corner of the board that has different kind of pictures which is related in TLE class.

• What makes it attractive to the learners?

The materials used in making the bulletin board are colored paper, stickers,
picture of fruits. There is also a plastic cover that protects the board from getting
wet if it is rainy day. There is lettering which is color green. The boarder was made
out of colored paper.

• Does it help in the learning process?

Outside the classroom, students use display boards to promote clubs,
recognize athletics and display art projects. The purpose of the display board in that
context is to catch the viewer's attention and explain what was performed and what
was learned. Classroom display boards are a great way to get your students
engaged, excited and working together, helping to maximize learning and personal
skills. Not only do they encourage visual learning and interactive lessons, but they
also help children to develop their personal skills and harness their creativity
Learning Environment 2:
• If the teacher using a distance of learning through the modules,
where is most likely the learning space of the students?

For the class of Ma’am Rona she said that she’s using Google classroom
in posting learner’s material. They also use messenger when addressing
some concerns of her students.

• Can you describe?

You can use Classroom in your school to streamline assignments, boost

collaboration, and foster communication. Classroom is available on the
web or by mobile app. You can use Classroom with many tools that you
already use, such as Gmail, Google Docs, and Google Calendar.

• How can you as a teacher help to make such environment conducive

for learning?

These collaboration-friendly tools have revolutionized the way we

communicate, work together, and store information online. For teachers
and students, the education-friendly platform Google Classroom
brings the benefits of paperless sharing, assessment, and digital
collaboration to classrooms. This application provides a central location
to communicate with students, ask questions, and make assignments. In
an increasingly digital world, google classroom helps facilitate online
learning for digital learners today.
The example above, describe two contrasting situations. The first shows that the learners
are in the same or shape while in the second, the learners maybe in different learning spaces like
homes, study hubs or cases parks or under the trees.
As a teacher, in which of the two situations would you refer to manage for learning? Choose
between Learning Environment 1 of Learning Environment 2.
I CHOOSE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT 2 (ONLINE LEARNING)
The current Coronavirus pandemic is driving the world to experiment with remote
education. There are several signs that this crisis will alter many parts of life. If remote teaching
proves to be a success, education may be one of them. Without a question, the move to online
learning as a result of COVID-19 was abrupt and rushed. However, when done correctly, online
learning has several advantages.
It's flexible. Online education allows both the instructor and the student to establish their
own learning speed, with the added benefit of being able to create a timetable that works for
everyone. As a consequence, adopting an online educational platform provides for a better work-
study balance, so there's no need to sacrifice anything. Online learning gives you important time
management skills, making it simpler to strike a solid work-study balance. A shared agenda
between the student and the teacher might also encourage both parties to take on additional tasks
and exercise more autonomy.
It's accessible. You may study or teach from anywhere in the globe with online education.
This eliminates the need to commute from one location to another or adhere to a strict timetable.
Furthermore, not only do you save time, but you also save money, which you may use towards
other things. The virtual classroom is also accessible from anyplace with an internet connection,
and traveling is a great way to take advantage of this.
There are several other reasons to pursue an online education in addition to those listed
above. Ninety percent of today's students believe that online learning is on par with or better than
traditional classroom learning. While this alternative to traditional education is not for everyone,
it is a handy choice for foreign students all around the world with nearly infinite alternatives.
Based on my noticing and analysis, I realized that
Research has shown that an engaged learning environment increases students’ attention and focus,
promotes meaningful learning experiences, encourages higher levels of student performance, and
motivates students to practice higher-level critical thinking skills.

An engaged learning environment:

• Increases student interaction with peers and teachers
• Provides students with frequent feedback
• Requires increased time, effort, and investment for tasks
• Offers students the opportunity to apply their learning in other situations
• Gives the opportunity to experience diversity

OBSERVE

What probable problem may result from two situations of the learning environment?

Internet Connection

Truth be told, our country is an internet-challenged country. A problem that had caused delays
implementing remote learning in general. Although internet plans exist; they are not,
however, created equal. Hence, in online classes, there was never a day when a student hasn’t
voiced out complaints such as “Can someone tell the professor I/he/she got
disconnected?” “Oops! Where did he go? (referring to the professor who doesn’t realize he
got cut off), “I have unstable Wifi”, “Do you guys see/hear me?”. We are in the city and yet
we experience such mishaps. What more are those students who are stuck in remote places
where signal isn’t as strong as what we city dwellers have? They are forced to “move
mountains” just to get a bar or two.
What solution can I think of to solve the problem?

Many students worldwide complain about distance learning in the sense of not having a fast and stable Internet
connection for synchronous courses. While it's not a general rule, we find this issue usually in rural areas or
within households that don't afford paying for a faster Internet plan. Unfortunately, inequities are a real thing
when it comes to remote learning. As a teacher we don’t need to force them during online discussion instead we
post the activities or send it to them once their connection is okay.

PLAN

What should I do it?

Our world heavily relies on Internet technology for everyday communication, education, and work.
Over time, students without Internet access will face massive disadvantages. As a teacher there’s
a lot of way in teaching students who suffer internet problem. Get Them Involved At School, When
pairing students off to work in smaller groups, be sure to pair students who are tech-savvy with
students who are less familiar with computer use. Regularly incorporating computer work into
classroom activities ensures that students get consistent access to the Internet, which is vital for
maintaining skills and knowledge over time. Encourage Parents To Take Advantage Of
Community Resources Compile a list of places that have free Wi-Fi and computer access in your
community and make the list available to parents. Encourage them to visit these spots at night and
on the weekends in order to provide their children with more exposure to technology. Many
libraries host classes on how to use the internet and computers; let parents know when upcoming
classes are available in your area.
In not less than 300 words, write an essay on the topic: “My Conducive Learning
Environment”.

My Conducive Learning Environment”.

FABRERO JAYREL R
By: __________________________________________________

By definition, a conducive learning environment is a platform devoid of both physical

intimidation and emotional frustration, which allows for a free exchange of ideas.
Teachers and learners are the main proponents of the learning process, thus their freedom
of contact, safety, and respect should all be maintained in the physical and emotional setting
they find themselves in. The physical environment is the initial port of call for learning,
which includes, but is not limited only available in classes. To allow for unrestricted
movement, the classroom should be clean, well-ventilated, and roomy movement. The
chairs and desks should be nicely positioned so that the instructor has a clear view of the
students. Learners face the chalkboard in class. All teaching and learning resources, such
as chalk, books, and charts, should be readily available. Both the instructor and the students
should feel comfortable in the classroom. The more successful teacher-student connection
is, and the more pleasurable teaching becomes, the smaller the classes grow. Most students
also feel dragged down by greater class sizes. Emotions are important in both teaching and
learning, and they should be accepted and harnessed. Mutual respect is an indispensable
ingredient in the recipe of learning, (Stronge: 2002; Wilen et al: 2004). A teacher who feels
disrespected is likely to become irritated and give poor results; similarly, a disrespectful
learner may disengage from the learning process.
When his or her instructor is there, the student should feel comfortable, respected, trusted,
accepted, and safe. Learning entails not just speaking and asking questions, but also
responding to them. Some students may ask clever questions but struggle to answer them
due to a lack of response skills, while having a wealth of knowledge in a particular academic
area. Because some people take longer to internalize knowledge than others, practice is
essential.
