- What are the three physical states of matter?
G. Establishing purpose for the
Lesson - Everybody look at this picture, and of course this real objects from the
picture I have shown to you.
-Are you familiar with this?

- Do you like to eat Halo-halo?

- What is the taste of Halo-halo?
- If you were to prepare halo-halo, what ingredients would like to use?
- How will you prepare your halo-halo?
- What are we going to do with the ingredients that we have identified?
-Very Good! This morning we are going to discuss about Homogenous
and Heterogeneous mixtures.

H. Presenting examples A. Unlocking of Difficulties:

/instances of the new lessons -Before we start discussing our lesson, let’s unlock first some
difficulties that has something to do with our lesson for today.

Direction: Identify each picture to be able to “Name it to Win it”

1. Mixture –a combination
MIX of two or more Chores
substances or a material
made up of two or more different substances which are
physically combined
Example: Solid, Liquid and gas

tiny particles.

3. Homogenous- mixture that has uniform throughout or the
chemical system of a mixture has the same appearance and
properties.

4. Heterogeneous - mixture that does not have uniform
composition.

B. Presentation:
Again, our lesson for this morning is all about Homogenous
and Heterogeneous mixtures.

-Are you ready to listen?

-Everyday most matter occurs as mixture; it is difficult to keep any

substances pure. Matter tends to mix naturally, like air, sea water pebbles
and many more.

-Now, look at this picture and of course I have a real objects.

-Are you familiar with this?

-What have you observed when you open a soft drink bottle?

-Did you hear a breezing sound? Let us see. (Open the bottle) We will
open this bottle of soft drink and we will hear if there a breezing sound.

-Did you hear that?

-Yes correct! When you leave a bottle of soft drink open, you will notice
that most of the gas eventually escaped. If you taste the soft drink, it
remains sweet no matter how long you leaved the bottle open.

-Soft drink is an example of mixture. It is a mixture of water, sugar, and

carbon dioxide gas.

I. Discussing new concepts and

practicing new skills #1. -What are the two kinds of mixture?
- Yes, you are right! Mixture can be combined in different ways and are
classified as either heterogeneous or homogenous mixture.

-Let’s talk about this.

-What is a heterogeneous mixture?

-Correct! since a mixture of a heterogeneous does not have a uniform

composition, the composition of heterogeneous mixture does not blend
throughout.

-Take a look for this picture, what is this?

-What are the components of pizza?

-Does it visible?

- Yes, the individual substances or the components of a pizza are

recognizable or remain distinct. The face or substances are all visible.

-Therefore, pizza is an example of what kind of mixture?

-Very good, let’s have another example, a freshly squeezed orange juice
is a heterogeneous mixture of juice and pulp.

- What are the components of a freshly squeezed orange juice?

-Does a pulp and juice are visible?

-Therefore, it is also an example of a heterogeneous mixture.

-What is the second kind of mixture?

-Okay, let’s talk about homogenous mixture, what is a homogenous

mixture?

-Yes, it could be in liquid or solid form, only one phase is seen or visible
after mixing different components.

-What have you seen in the picture?

-What have you observed after mixing water and salt?

- This water and salt are an example of homogenous mixture since only a
colorless liquid is observed.

J.Pagtalakay ng bagong konsepto -This time we will try some examples of heterogeneous and
at paglalahad ng bagong homogeneous. All you must do is to observe and describe the appearance
kasanayan #2 of our examples.
-What is our first picture?

-What are the components of our first picture?

-What is in the second picture?

-What are the components of vegetable salad?

-Look at this third picture we have, what do you think is this?

-What does it look like?

-How many components does a cup of coffee have?

-After mixing all the components, how many phase does it have?

-Therefore, a cup of coffee is an example of what kind of mixture?

-What is in the picture?

-Yes, it is a mixture of different melted metals.

-Do you feel the air now?

-The air with no clouds is homogenous. It is composed of oxygen,

nitrogen, carbon dioxide and other particles.

-Did you understand our lesson?

K.Developing Mastery -Okay let us see if you really understand our lesson.
(Leads to Formative Assessment)
-We have two table here; each table has a box. Inside each box you will
find out different mixture. All you must to do is pick one and tell if it is
heterogeneous or a homogenous mixture.

-Are you ready?

L.Finding Practical Application of

concepts and skills in daily living -This time we will be having a group activity, but before that, what are
the standards in doing group activity?
(Diffrentiated Instruction)

Group 1
Direction: Mix all the substances you have in your table then
answer the following questions.

1.What are the components of your substances?

2.How many components do you have in your substances?

3.How did you prepare your sandwich?

4.Describe the appearance of your mixture.

5.In your real-life situation, how does sandwich help people?

6.What kind of mixture do you have in your group?

Group 2
Direction: Mix all the substances you have in your table then answer the
following questions.

1. What are the components of your substances that is available at

home?
2. How many components do you have in your substances?
3. How did you prepare your drinks?
4. Describe the appearance of your mixture.
5. How many phases is seen after mixing your components?
6. Do you like to drink milo?
7. What is the benefit that we can get from milo?
8. What kind of mixture does milo?

Valuing:
-Is there any question regarding our topic?
-Did you enjoy your activity?
-Why is it so easy for you to finish your activity *HOTS

-Do you think common household like milo, sugar etc. are important?

-How do you appreciate the uses of common household?

-How are you going to prepare your drinks and food in this time of
pandemic?

-What have you learned from our lesson?

-What is a heterogeneous?
M.Making Generalization and
-What is a homogenous?
abstraction about the lesson
-How to describe appearance of mixture?
- If you are going to prepare a mixture, what do you need to do to keep
your workplace clean?

Direction: Classify the following mixture if it is heterogenous or

homogenous and describe the appearance of each mixture.
