Making Sentences 9.

A sentence may have more than one VERB.


VERB.

Examples:

1. Carlo always walked to school and ran


home.
The VERBS are: walked + ran
This sentence has one SUBJECT: Carlo

2. Olu likes tea but Sophie prefers coffee .


The VERBS are: likes + prefers
This sentence has two SUBJECTS: Olu and Sophie

3. The tree, which was an oak, provided shade from the sun.
The VERBS are: was + provided
This sentence has one SUBJECT: tree

The verbs have been removed from the


following sentences. Replace the blank spaces with a verb
and underline the subject.
NB sometimes there are two subjects.

1. The dogs ……………… loudly and …………………… towards their owner.

2. The tennis match …………… very exciting and ………………. for


4 hours.
