Chapter 6
Guided Practices

A. Conduct a survey of the school environment. Provide a description of the

following components:

Components Description
Location a specified location or position.
Physical Facilities a FOOD ESTABLISHMENT's structure
and interior surfaces, including
accessories such as soap and towel
dispensers, as well as attachments such
as light fixtures and heating or air
conditioning system vents.
Psychological Climate employee impressions of their work
environment.
Community Context the context and circumstances in which
transportation decisions are made.

B. Answer the following questions:

1. Which component is the strength and weakness of the school? Explain your
answer.
Among the components mentioned above, I believe the location is the school's
strength and weakness because it is critical in retaining students, instructors, and
other school personnel. Many of whom prioritize their location in order to achieve
a healthy work-life balance. Appropriate site selection can significantly boost a
company's long-term success. Poor ones can be extremely expensive in terms of
lost talent, productivity, and capital. The geographical location of the school
should be considered.
2. How does the school maintain the safety and security of students?
For children of all ages, a safe learning environment is essential. School
safety is essential in preventing assaults, bullying, victimization, theft, glass room

disturbances, fights, bobbery, weapon use, sexual assaults, and violent crime.
School safety is vital to guaranteeing each child's academic accomplishment by
providing them with the opportunity to study and grow in a safe and loving
environment. Strict school safety policies promote improved learning, a sense of
school community, an increase in pro-social behavior, and a decrease in
violence.
3. What are the best practices of the school in keeping the learning environment
conducive for teaching and learning?
1. Become acquainted with the students by name as soon as possible.
2. Learn a few personal facts about each kid.
3. Have a discussion on the values associated with a current event or topic.
4. Make kind words when appropriate.
5. When educating, have a cheerful and energetic demeanor.
6. Show students that you are not only interested in educating, but also in
them.
7. Refrain from utilizing threats and punitive actions.
8. There will be no exceptions.
9. Create a welcoming environment in the classroom.
10. Create an environment that values and encourages inquiries and
responses, even if they are erroneous.
4. How do teachers promote social development and cultural diversity to
learners?
Show that you care about your students' ethnic backgrounds. Encourage
children to learn about their ethnic backgrounds and exchange information with
their classmates in order to create trust. Examine and celebrate socioeconomic,
religious, and cultural variety. Another important factor in creating a supportive
environment for students is narrowing the instructor-student power gap. In an
authoritarian classroom, students may occasionally engage in inappropriate
behavior in reaction to a perceived sense of social injustice; in a culturally diverse
classroom, the teacher therefore functions as a facilitator rather than an
educator. Maintain a high level of sensitivity to language-related difficulties. Non-

native English speakers may feel uncomfortable in traditional classrooms.

Maintain high expectations for student accomplishment. Given that culturally
responsive training is a student-centered approach, it's not unexpected that each
student's success standards are developed and assigned on an individual basis.
Students are not unduly applauded for little tasks, but are suitably acknowledged
for their accomplishments. Implement self-testing techniques. Rethinking the
concept of evaluation is another useful method for supporting children in
becoming active learners. They were excluded, misunderstood, and forced to
forgo their own speech in favor of English.
5. In what ways does the school promote a positive school-community
relationship?
 Create school norms that promote the formation of values. Policies at
school and in the classroom should be transparent to all students and
strictly enforced. This is not to argue that you must create rules for every
possible scenario.

 Involve parents actively. Establishing open, transparent communication

with your students' parents may help you prevent misunderstandings and
alleviate feelings of suspicion or anger.

 Keep a consistent degree of discipline. When rules are breached,

disciplinary action is required. Diversifying punishment tactics, on the
other hand, may contribute to the establishment of a healthy school
culture.

 Individual accomplishments and exemplary behavior should be

recognized. This includes more than just recognizing appropriate
"excellent work." Complimenting youngsters allows them to feel cared for
on an individual basis.

G. Conduct an interview with teachers. Find answers to the following questions.

1. How do teachers encourage students to respect individual
differences?
“In order for students to learn to respect one another, they must be treated
equitably. Ensure that the particular needs of each student are satisfied. You
demonstrate respect for students, their parents, and people from other cultures by
talking courteously. If feasible, reprimand kids in private so that they do not feel singled
out in front of their classmates. Students should be expected to engage in class
politely.”
2. How do teachers assess students’ prior learning?

“Io assess pupils' prior knowledge and abilities, a variety of ways are available.
While certain assessments, idea maps, portfolios, and auditions are direct
measurements, self-reports, an inventory of past courses, and experiences are also
kinds of formative evaluation. Individual students who lack many of the necessary skills
and knowledge may be encouraged to enroll in prerequisite courses, or they may be

instructed that they must obtain expertise in some areas on their own in order to
succeed in the course. As a result, analyzing prior knowledge may assist both the
teacher and the student in allocating their time and resources as efficiently as feasible.”

3. In what ways do teachers motivate students to arouse their interest

about the lesson?
“Facilitators may be quite effective in motivating and inspiring their pupils. Of
course, this is easier said than done since each kid has a different motivation, and it
takes time and a lot of effort to establish a classroom full of children who are enthused
about learning, working hard, and pushing themselves to succeed. Give kids a sense of
control over their education. While a teacher's supervision is necessary to keep
students on track and engaged, providing students some choice and control over what
happens in the classroom is one of the most effective ways to keep them interested.
Giving your pupils the chance to earn them is an excellent approach to inspire them.
When deciding on suitable rewards for your class, keep your students' personalities and
needs in mind. Finally, assigning students to classroom chores is a fantastic way to
instill a sense of community in them and inspire them. Most students will regard their
classroom assignments as a privilege rather than a hardship, and they will work hard to
ensure that they and their classmates meet expectations.”
4. How do teachers create a positive learning environment?

“Teachers have long recognized the need of providing a good learning

environment for children's learning and development. Positivity has become an
inseparable part of the fabric of the classroom, from the development of interesting
activities and writing prompts to the instruction of students on how to use positive
language while conversing with others.”

5. How do teachers promote cultural diversity?

Establish rules in your classroom that foster inclusion and openness is an
important part of attaining equality and diversity. Make it clear how students in your
class will behave one another and share their thoughts, opinions, and beliefs. Teach

your pupils how to disagree nicely. Restorative Practices foster self-awareness, self-
management, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making. Negative beliefs
should be challenged immediately and openly. Create class norms with your children to
enable them to take charge of their community. Be adaptive and open to adjust and
amend regulations as needed. It's important to realize that diversity entails more than
just race. Academic performance analysis that takes into consideration race, ethnicity,
gender, sexual orientation, religion, socioeconomic condition, and ability is emphasized
in culturally relevant teaching.”

L. Answer the following:

1. How does the school address the general health and well-being of
students?
Positive emotions are associated with increased adaptability and flexibility, as well
as openness to different cultures and beliefs, self-efficacy, and ambiguity tolerance.
Schools can provide children with correct information and assist them in better
understanding the options accessible to them. They may also provide children with the
intellectual skills necessary to think critically about their choices and the influences of

society, such as peer pressure, advertising, social media, and family and cultural norms.
As a result, schools should give courses concentrating on responsible Internet usage,
the need of adopting a healthy lifestyle, and how to avoid or manage health difficulties in
collaboration with those involved, such as health and social services, local
governments, and civil society organizations.
2. How safe and conducive is the learning environment to the students?
A secure classroom in which pupils are physically, emotionally, and socially at
ease provides a safe and conducive learning environment for them. They have faith that
their needs will be met and that they will be protected by caring instructors and
community members. Students will be more motivated to study if they are in a suitable
learning environment, such as one with comfortable classroom sets, adequate teaching
resources, and engaging classroom activities. Involving children in learning is desirable
in my opinion because they will pay more attention, concentrate better, and engage
more effectively throughout the teaching and learning process. Learning is hampered in
a dangerous school atmosphere, yet we may expect children to learn best in a safe
environment.
3. How does the school encourage students to enroll in school?
The school invites students to enroll by providing cutting-edge academic, co-
curricular, and extracurricular facilities and resources. Having a staff of highly skilled
and experienced educators that can provide a parental touch and treat their students as
if they were their own children. Providing them with research materials. Providing them
with on-campus lodging. Giving them the option to continue their education at a higher
level. Experts from academia, industry, and research institutes attend seminars,
workshops, and conferences.
4. How does the school child participation to ensure the child’s rights?
Parents must seek out opportunities for their children to participate in activities at
home, school, and in the community, such as organizing play dates with other children.
Making participation a "wonderful experience" by taking part in or witnessing a student's
activity, such as a performance or contest, and offering positive reinforcement, such as
praise or rewards.

Reflection:

Write your reflection by completing the following statements.

I realized that:
From creating engaging activities and writing prompts to training students on how
to use positive language while talking with others, positivity has become an inseparable
part of the fabric of the classroom. Teachers have long known that creating a positive
learning environment is critical to assisting learners with their learning and development.
That is how necessary it is to create a safe and welcoming learning environment.
I believed it is essential to:
Involving children in learning is desirable because they will pay more attention,
concentrate better, and engage more effectively throughout the teaching and learning
process. We should be required to meet the individual needs of each pupil. We also
show respect to students, their parents, and others from other cultures by speaking
politely. Students should be expected to interact politely. Students must be treated
fairly. It is always our responsibility to demonstrate what is right and wrong so that they
might learn to appreciate one another.
From now on, I am determine to:
Become a future teacher capable of bringing some good out of some negative situations
that I may face. Facilitators, as they are known, play a crucial role in motivating and
inspiring their pupils. Yes, you are accurate. It is the facilitators' responsibility to keep
students on track and motivated; offering students some choice and influence over what
happens in the classroom is one of the most successful strategies of keeping them
interested. But, for me, saying it is easier than doing it. It takes time and a lot of effort to
build a classroom full of students who are enthusiastic, working hard, and driving
themselves to succeed. It also takes time and a lot of effort to offer students a sense of
control over their learning because each student is driven differently. I understand that
this is just one aspect of becoming a competent facilitator. I am also confident in my
abilities. The goal has been established: to become an EXCELLENT TEACHER.
