INDUSTRIAL INTERNET OF THINGS (IIOT)

Introduction to IIOT?
The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) is the application of the Internet of
Things (IoT) in an industrial setting which applies smart technology (smart
sensors), data collection/storage, and cloud-based analytics connected
together using the internet’s infrastructure to achieve value added
performance within an industry’s enterprise.

How does IIOT work?

IIoT is a network of intelligent devices connected to form systems that
monitor, collect, exchange and analyze data. Each industrial IoT ecosystem
consists of connected devices that can sense, communicate and store
information about themselves.
• Public and/or private data communications infrastructure;
• Analytics and applications that generate business information from raw
data, storage for the data that is generated by the IIoT devices.
Applications of IoT in Industry?
 Production visibility
 Faster improvement cycles
 Reduce the cost of quality management system
 Increase machine utilization
Smart Agriculture System
As a matter of fact, the primary core of IoT is the data that you can
draw from things and transmit through the Internet. In fact, to
optimize the farming process, IoT sensor installed on a farm which
gathers and process data in the repetitive cycle which allows the
farmer to react quickly to emerging problems and changes in
ambient conditions. Smart agriculture follows a cycle method like

1. Observation

2. Diagnostics
3. Decisions
4. Action
1. Observation
As a matter of fact, sensors record observational data from the soil, crops, livestock,
and atmosphere etc.
2. Diagnostics
The sensor values are fed to a cloud-hosting IoT platform with predefined decision
rules, and models are known as business logic, the condition of the examined object
and determine any needs.
3. Decisions
Afterwards, problems are revealed, the user and machine learning components of
the IoT platform that identify whether location-specific treatment is necessary.

4. Action
Finally, the end-user evaluation, the process repeats from the beginning.

Home Automation System

How IoT used in smart homes?

In the IoT home automation ecosystem, you can control your devices like light, fan,
TV, etc. A domestic automation system can monitor and manage home attributes
adore lighting, climate, enjoyment systems, and appliances. It is very helpful to
control your home devices.

How home automation system connected to the Internet?

For this system, Internet connectivity module is attached to the main supply unit of
the home system which can be accessed through the Internet. For wireless
connectivity, the static IP address is used.

Benefits of IoT in Smart homes?

 Managing all of your home devices from one place. The convenience factor
here is enormous,
 Flexibility for new devices and appliances,
 Maximizing home security,
 Remote control of home functions,
 Increased energy efficiency,
 Improved appliance functionality,
 Home management insights.

Autonomous Cars (Self -Driving)

 One of the most remarkable applications of Machine Learning is the self-
driving or autonomous car,
 Machine Learning, combined with other disruptive technologies like IoT,
is helping improve and enhance the functioning of autonomous cars,
 Autonomous cars are very much capable of sensing the environment
around them and moving safely, requiring very little or no human
intervention,
 A self-driving car, also known as an autonomous vehicle (AV or
auto), driverless car, or robotic car (robot-car), is a vehicle that is
capable of sensing its environment and moving safely with little or
no human input.
Connected Cars

What are the 5 Levels of Autonomous Vehicles?

 From driver to passenger. ...
 Gradual development of autonomous driving functions. ...
 Level 0 – manual driving. ...
 Level 1 – driver assistance. ...
 Level 2 – partial automation. ...
 Level 3 – conditional automation. ...
 Level 4 – high automation. ...
 Level 5 – full automation.

How IoT Connected TO The World

IoT network provides an interconnected environment where objects have a digital
presence and can communicate with other objects and people.
What are the impacts of IoT in present world?

The positive impact of the IoT on citizens, businesses and governments will be
significant, ranging from helping governments reduce healthcare costs and
improving quality of life, to reducing carbon footprints, increasing access to
education in remote undeserved communities, and improving transportation safety.

How does the IoT affect society?

IoT devices impact society in a meaningful way. Smart homes and offices can save energy
costs by controlling the electricity or temperature when one is away from home or work, and
they can offer better security by constant surveillance and taking proactive action in case of
a security breach.
