SUBJ.: REQUIREMENTS FOR DRY DOCK EXTENSION

The requirements for an extension of the DOCKING SURVEY are as follows:

• Copy of the survey status report stating the due date of the dry dock survey.
• Confirmation from dry dock regarding availability for your vessel during the proposed date.
• Confirmation from 3 dry dock stating their unavailability to accommodate your vessel within the
expected due date; or valid reason for requesting the extension. Commercial commitments are not
valid.
• Confirmation from Recognize Organization, stating that there are no outstanding hull or machinery
items pending.
• DD ext. request do not require an underwater survey when the last DS was less than 36 months ago
and is not over the 60 months (5 years) period of validity of the Cargo Ship Safety Construction
Certificate (SAFCON) or International Load Line Certificate (ILLC) (which applies to the vessel).
• DD ext. for vessels past the 36 month window* are usually not granted, only in cases of force
majeure, 1 month only can be granted, and your vessel will need an additional survey as well as an
underwater bottom inspection with divers CCTV witnessed by a class surveyor, prior
authorization to extend the DD survey. The authorization will be subject to the results of the UWS.
(copy of the UWS must be submitted)

Please note that in all cases the interval between any two outside ship’s bottom inspection should not
exceed 36 months (5 years of validity of the SAFCCON or ILLC).

*36 months window is the period between the last renewal survey and the intermediate dry dock or between
the intermediate and the next Renewal Survey (note that the period between renewal surveys will be 60 months
(5 years)
