Overview
This document describes how to use a Service Aware Unit (SAU) board in the GSM network,
including hardware installation, software installation, IP address configuration, operation and
maintenance, and common operation methods. After the SAU board is installed, the Nastar
delivers end-to-end tasks to the SAU board. Then, the SAU is triggered to perform data
collection and preprocessing.
Product Version
The following table lists product versions related to this guide.
Intended Audience
This guide is intended for:

1 Change History
This section provides information about the changes in different document versions. There are
two types of changes, including technical changes and editorial changes. Technical changes
refer to changes in functions of a specific product version. Editorial changes refer to changes
in wording or addition of information that was not described in the earlier version.
2 SAU Board Introduction
The SAU board collects data reported by the NEs and preprocesses the collected data. The
preprocessed data is uploaded to the Nastar through the U2000 and eCoordinator.
When the BSC6900 is configured with an SAU board, operate and maintain the SAU by
referring to the flowchart in this section.

Compared with issue 01 (2016-02-29) of V900R018C10, this issue does not include any
changes.
The SAU board collects data reported by the NEs and preprocesses the collected data. The
preprocessed data is uploaded to the Nastar through the U2000 and eCoordinator.
NOTE
The SAU boards in this guide refer to the SAUa boards and SAUc boards.
NOTE
If an SAU board is first installed with the Nastar service component and then the EBC and EMS service
components, the following functions will become unavailable:
l Voice black box
l Real-time reporting of standard PCHR messages
l CPU and memory usage reporting to the U2000 for the SAU board
To solve this issue, uninstall all service components and then re-install them. When installing them, first
install the EBC and EMS service components and then the Nastar service component. You are advised to
perform this operation in the early morning, because component uninstallation will affect SAU services
and this operation takes approximately 50 minutes.
When the BSC6900 is configured with an SAU board, operate and maintain the SAU by
referring to the flowchart in this section.
NOTE
Before any SAU operations, log in to the website (http://support.huawei.com/carrier/). Choose Support
> Product Support > Global Service > Managing Customer Experience Solution > Network
Optimization Service > GENEX Nastar, and find the Nastar Product Documentation document. Then,
obtain the SAU User Guide document under Service software Installation and Commissioning.

3.1 Managing USB Ports and Ports for Commissioning on the SAU Board
This section describes how to manage USB ports and ports for commissioning on the SAU
board by running MML commands.
Prerequisites
You have logged in to the LMT.
Procedure
l Enable or disable the USB ports and ports for commissioning on the SAU board.
If... Then...
USB ports on the SAU board need Run the SET OMUPORT:
to be enabled PORTTYPE=USB, SW=ON; command.
USB ports on the SAU board need Run the SET OMUPORT:
to be disabled PORTTYPE=USB, SW=OFF; command.
NOTE
If the SAU board runs the Windows, Suse Linux, or Dopra Linux V100R001C0 3.1 operating
system, users can enable or disable the USB ports and ports for commissioning on the SAU board,
but the configurations do not take effect.
l Query the status of USB ports and ports for commissioning on the SAU board.
If... Then...
The status of USB ports on the SAU Run the LST OMUPORT:
board needs to be queried PORTTYPE=USB; command.
l Query the running status of USB ports and ports for commissioning on the SAU board.
If... Then...
The running status of USB ports Run the DSP OMUPORT: PORTTYPE=USB;
on the SAU board needs to be command. The running status can be Available,
queried Unavailable, or Unknown.
NOTE
l If the running status of USB ports is Unknown, operations on the USB flash drives connected
to these ports will fail.
l If USB ports and ports for commissioning on the SAU board are disabled and the SAU board
detects that no OMU boards are running, the SAU board automatically enables its USB ports
and ports for commissioning. In this manner, users can commission the SAU board using these
ports. In other cases, if a USB port is enabled (or disabled), all USB ports on the SAU board
will be enabled (or disabled) regardless of the hardware type of USB flash drives.
