Assignment 6

Insomnia is a condition when a person has difficulty sleeping. This sleep disorder
makes him have the sleep the body needs. This causes the physical condition of people
with insomnia to be not fit enough to carry out activities the next day. Insomnia is
divided into two, namely acute (short term) and chronic (long term).

Acute (short term) is experiencing insomnia once a week for several weeks. while
chronic (long term) is experiencing insomnia 3 times a week for 3 months or more.
There are primary and secondary types of insomnia. Primary insomnia is insomnia that
is not related to health problems, usually caused by stress, changes in sleep schedule (jet
lag). Secondary insomnia is insomnia caused by health problems such as asthma, flu,
joint pain, caffeine use, hormone disorders, alcohol use that keeps you awake at night.

In fact, insomnia can occur at any age and is more common in women than men, as well
as in the elderly. Several other factors that can increase a person's risk for experiencing
sleep problems include:

1. Mental problems, such as depression, anxiety disorders, to post-traumatic


stress disorder (PTSD).

2. Working shifts, work like this can change the body's biological clock.

3. Gender, during menstruation the body will experience hormonal changes, this
condition causes symptoms of hot flashes or night sweats, causing sleep
disturbances.

4. Age, insomnia increases with age.

5. Long trips, long trips or jet lag due to crossing multiple time zones can also
trigger insomnia.

In addition, suffering from certain medical conditions, such as obesity and


cardiovascular disease can also cause a person to experience insomnia. Menopausal
period is also called can lead to disturbances that make it difficult to sleep.

Causes of Insomnia
There are several factors that cause insomnia which ultimately leads to the condition of
difficulty sleeping for a long period of time. Starting from the consequences of lifestyle
and room comfort problems, to psychological disorders, physical health problems, and
side effects of drugs, such as:

1. Experiencing stress.

2. Remembering the traumatic event.

3. Changes in sleeping habits, such as living in a new house.

4. Experience jet lag.

5. Taking certain drugs.

Insomnia Prevention and Treatment

Insomnia can be prevented by doing the following simple ways:

• Avoid eating and drinking a lot before bed

• Limit consumption of alcoholic and caffeinated beverages

• Try to be active during the day to avoid naps

Treatment of insomnia depends on the underlying cause and the patient's condition.
Methods that can be provided by doctors are psychotherapy or counseling, medication,
or a combination of both. However, insomnia also has a traditional medicine passed
down from ancestors using green coconut root which is believed to treat or prevent
insomnia

How to Make Insomnia Traditional Medicine

Insomnia is a disorder that causes sufferers to have difficulty falling asleep or not
getting enough sleep, even though there is enough time to do so. Our ancestors passed
down traditional recipes for insomniacs.

ingredients:

• 5 pieces of green coconut root each 4 cm

• 600 cc of water

Steps:

1. Take 5 pieces of green coconut root each 4 cm.

2. Coarsely grind together 10 lotus seeds.

3. Add 600 cc of water into the result of the collision.

4. Boil everything with the anco that has been removed so that the remaining air is
300cc.

5. Drink while warm.
