1. A concave lens has focal length of 20 cm. At what distance from the lens a 5 cm tall
object be placed so that it forms an image at 15 cm from the lens? Also calculate
the size of the image formed.
2. The refractive indices of four media A, B, C and D are given in the following table: If
light, travels from one medium to another, in which case the change in speed will be
(i) minimum, (ii) maximum?

3. “The refractive index of diamond is 2.42”. What is the meaning of this statement in
relation to speed of light? Also how fast does the light travel in a glass of refractive
index 1.5?
4. An object 2 cm in size is placed 30 cm in front of a concave mirror of focal length
15 cm. At what distance from the mirror should a screen be placed in order to
obtain a sharp image? What will be the nature and the size of the image formed?
Draw a ray diagram to show the formation of the image in this case.
5. When a bright object is placed 10cm away from concave mirror, its real image is
formed at a distance 40cm from the mirror. What is the focal length of the mirror?
6. What is the focal length of the lens that produces a real image three times as large
as the objectif the distance between image and object is 1.0m?
