SLU Niche

ST. LOUIS NICHE (Students – Teachers Louisians on Unified Immersion Synergy)

Denoting to services and interests that appeal to a specialized section of a certain


community, ST. LOUIS Niche is a unified community engagement program of the Community
Extension and Outreach Programs Office (CEOPO) that taps all sectors of the university to
share their expertise and competence to a partner community, hence, concretizing their
unique CICM MISSIONARY Characteristics. The niche is composed of eight nexus where all
sectors of the university can extend their knowledge, skills, and know-how.

Eight Nexus:

Nexus 1: Buklod ng Pag-asa ni Padre Theophile Verbist (Justice: Justice and Peace, Engaged
Citizenship, Poverty Alleviation)
Objective: Give hope and life to the marginalized, vulnerable, and unloved of the
society
Partner Agencies: BJMP, NCIP, DOLE, DSWD
Target Partner Community: Jail Inmates, Unemployed, Indigenous Peoples, PWDs

Nexus 2: #ILOVEYOUth (Integrated Louisians on Values Empowerment of the Youth) (Integrity


of Creation: Youth Empowerment, Engaged Citizenship)
Objective: Assist, nurture, and empower the youth in the civic and social involvement
Partner Agencies: SK Federation, DSWD, Diocesan and Public Schools (DepEd)
Target Partner Community: Youth Leaders, Out-of-School Youth, Students

Nexus 3: LOUISIAN CARES (Concrete Actions and Response for Emergency Services) (Justice,
Integrity of Creation: Justice and Peace, Engaged Citizenship)
Objective: Respond effectively to the needs of the immediate community in terms of
medical and health services
Partner Agencies: Red Cross, SLU Hospital, MOMFI, Baguio Association of Retired
Personnel (BARP)
Target Partner Community: Elders, PWDs, Sick People, Victims of Calamities

Nexus 4: Pen, Book, and Chalk (PBC) Program (Justice, Integrity of Creation: Engaged
Citizenship)
Objective: Support diocesan and public school teachers in improving their teaching
and school needs and other agencies who need academic assistance
Partner Agencies: Diocesan and Public Schools, DepEd
Target Partner Community: Diocesan Schools and Public Schools

Nexus 5: Gangsa School of Living Traditions (Indigenous Peoples Advocates: Justice and
Peace)
Objective: Promote culture, heritage, and values of the indigenous communities
especially of the Cordilleras
Partner: Indigenous Peoples in the Cordillera, National Commission on Indigenous
Peoples, DepEd
Target Partner Community: Students, Youth Leaders

Nexus 6: Hapag ng Pagkakaisa (Peace, Interfaith Dialogue: Justice and Peace, Engaged
Citizenship)
Objective: Strengthen camaraderie, partnership, and brotherhood among different
religious denominations
Partner Agencies: Pastors and Members of other Religious Denominations, CEAP,
Bishop’s House
Target Partner Community: Different Religious Denominations

Nexus 7: C.I.C.M - N Program (CICM Initiatives to Care for Mother Nature) (Integrity of Creation:
Ecological Integrity)
Objective: Demonstrate concrete ways on how to protect and rehabilitate the
environment
Partner Agencies: DENR, PNP, EMB, Balili River System Rehabilitation
Target Partner Community: Partner Communities, Adopted Water Shed

Nexus 8: RAINBOW Program (Justice, Integrity of Creation: Gender Equality)


Objective: Promote ways and means on how to respect, value, and empower gender
sensitivity
Partner Agencies: Women Advocates, NGOs, Women’s Desk, PNP
Target Partner Community: Women, LGBT, Students, Youth Leaders
