CROWD AND CRISIS MANAGEMENT MIDTERM

1. Give the 5 stages of disaster and risk management. Give concrete examples for
each.
 Prevention -Preventing hazards from occurring, whether natural, technological, or human-
caused, is the goal of prevention. Although not all hazards can be avoided, the risk of death
and injury can be reduced with proper evacuation preparations, environmental planning, and
design standards.
 MITIGATION- Mitigation is the effort to limit the impact of catastrophes and emergencies
on people and property. It refers to procedures or actions that can be taken to avert an
emergency, lower the likelihood of an emergency, or lessen the severity of inevitable
emergencies.
 PREPAREDNESS- Planning, organizing, training, equipping, exercising, reviewing, and
taking remedial action are all part of the preparedness cycle. Developing mutual aid
agreements and memorandums of understanding, training for both response staff and
concerned public, catastrophe drills to reinforce training and test capabilities, and presenting
all-hazards education campaigns are all examples of typical preparedness methods.
 RESPONSE- The response phase is triggered when a major tragedy or emergency occurs. It
is made up of actions that attempt to save lives, reduce economic losses, and alleviate
suffering.
 RECOVERY- The recovery phase's purpose is to restore some sense of normalcy to the
afflicted area, including the restoration of basic services and the repair of physical, social,
and economic damages.
2. Sight your Location or Geographical Area, what disaster you experienced the
most (man-made or natural), briefly describe how it is being handled by the LGU
(local government unit) in your area and sight it's best practices.
 I currently live here in Cubao, Project 4, one of the cities that appears on the news whenever
there’s storm or disasters happening. Marikina was always affected because being near to
most of the floods in the city's low-lying areas are caused by the outflow from the slopes of
the Sierra Madre Mountain range that runs along the east of Marikina Valley. Our LGU
always prepare for evacuation areas which is in the convention court, 24/7 alert when there
are disasters like this.

3. Who are the main actors in disaster and risk management planning and
implementation? Specify the roles and coordination between various actors.
 Secretary of the Department of National Defense (DND) (Chairperson)- for ensuring the
protection and welfare of the people during disasters and emergencies.
 Secretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), (Vice
chairperson for Disaster Preparedness)- is mandated to equip the LGU’s with the
necessary skills needed to proactively establish disaster preparedness and resiliency measures
in their localities. Secretary of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)
as Vice Chairperson for Disaster Response- takes on the role of capacitating the LGU’s along
disaster mitigation and response.” Part of this task is the provision of needed training to the
LGUs to capacitate them as first responders.
 Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) as Vice chairperson
for Disaster Prevention and Mitigation- share lessons and knowledge on innovations in
disaster risk reduction and management, including its new agenda for including “predictive
damage” and “business continuity” as part of the country’s pro-active disaster preparedness
agenda.
 Director-General of National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) as Vice
Chairperson for Disaster Rehabilitation and Recovery. – advocating for proper planning
as a key to guide the recovery and to build more resilient communities through improved
structures, services, and governance.

4. Crowd and Crisis Management main objective/s. Discuss briefly.

Crowd management refers to the task of assisting and controlling big
crowds aboard your ship, as well as maintaining passenger calm during
emergencies or tumultuous situations. Governance, structures, and services
at an event, effective crowd management protects the safety of all attendees,
including guests, personnel, and entertainers. Everyone in the venue should
be able to relax and enjoy themselves.
5. What are the Crisis in Tourism and Hospitality Industry to date How it affects both
industry, sight examples.
 The tourism dilemma has the potential to reinforce environmental degradation,
thereby complicating environmental issues. Ocean acidification, climate
change, pollution, and the continual deterioration of biological variety habitat
are just a few examples. Tourism has a significant impact on local land use,
including erosion, pollution, habitat loss, and pre - warning on endangered
animals.
