Power Electronics Lab Assignment-VII

DESIGN & SIMULATION OF FLYBACK CONVERTER.

OBJECTIVE:

Simulation and Analysis of Isolated DC-DC Converter (Flyback Converter).

COMPONENTS REQUIRED:

MATLAB Simulink.

CIRCUIT DIAGRAM:

Fig: Flyback Converter Circuit.

SETTING UP SIMULATION:

1) Run MATLAB software by double click on desktop icon.

2) Open blank untitled Simulink model window for creating a new model.
3) Drag and drop required blocks from Simulink library Browser window.
4) Make the circuit as shown in circuit diagram.

PULSE GENERATOR:
The Pulse Generator block generates square wave pulses at regular intervals. The block
waveform parameters, Amplitude, Pulse Width, Period, and Phase delay, determine the
shape of the output waveform. The following figure shows how each parameter affects the
waveform.
 In Time-Based mode, Simulink computes
the block output only at times when the
output actually changes.

 In Sample-Based mode, the block

computes its outputs at fixed intervals that
you specify.

Vi 24V
Vo 40V
C 17.85e-6f
R 40Ω
P 40W

CALCULATION:
In Flyback converter, the output voltage (VOUT) across the load resistor is denoted by:

𝑁2 𝑉0 (1 − 𝐷)
= ∗
𝑁1 𝑉𝑠 𝐷
For capacitor;
∆𝑉0 𝐷
=
𝑉0 𝑅𝐶𝐹
