Depression:-
Depression (major depressive disorder) is a common
and serious medical illness that negatively affects
how you feel, the way you think and how you act.
Fortunately, it is also treatable. Depression causes
feelings of sadness and/or a loss of interest in
activities you once enjoyed. It can lead to a variety of
emotional and physical problems and can decrease
your ability to function at work and at home.
There are two types of Depression Major Depressive Disorder & Dysthemic Disorder
Bipolar Disorder:-
Bipolar-II Disorder— defined by both mania and depression, but the mania is less severe
than in Bipolar-I and doctors call it hypomania. A person with Bipolar-II may experience
a major depressive episode preceding or following a manic episode.
Cyclothymic Disorder:-
Cyclothymic
Disorders are also known as cyclothymia, this type includes symptoms of
hypomania and depression that last for 2 years or more in adults or 1 year in children.
These symptoms do not fit the criteria for wholly manic or depressive episodes.
Mania:-
Mania is an alteration in mood that is characterized by
extreme happiness, extreme irritability, hyperactivity, little
need for sleep or racing thoughts which may lead to rapid
speech.
