What is the student learning goal(s) for this lesson idea? Through the use of Kahoot! Students will
be able to engage in a fun game where they are able to identify prepositions. This tool can be used
throughout multiple other lessons as a refresher or a way to collaborate with fellow classmates.

Through the engaged class activity of the use of Kahoot!, students will be challenged to expand their
knowledge of what a preposition is and does and how it applies to the structure of the English
language.

How do you plan to implement this lesson and integrate the technology? Check all that apply:

X Teacher-led: There is no student voice and choice in the activities. Students are guided by
teacher direction and expectations. Learning activities are assigned to the
student and mostly practice based.

☐ Student-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the activities. They may select the topic
of learning and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. The
teacher facilitates the learning as the students direct their own learning processes.

☐ Problem-based and/or Publishable: Students are solving problems
and completing projects to demonstrate their learning. Additionally, the projects can be shared
outside of the classroom. (Note: This objective could be reached by displaying the project on the
school’s morning newscast, posting the project to the classroom blog, presenting it to another
class, or publishing via an outside source.)

Lesson idea implementation: This Kahoot! lesson will serve as an engaging activity in which the

whole class will be actively participating in. It will require prior student knowledge of prepositions as
the game will consist of quiz-like questions in determining what a preposition is.
Managing student learning: Students will become very active learners as all will be involved in the
use of Kahoot! Each student will have a separate login where the Web 2.0 tool will put the class
together in a digital format. Through the direction of the teacher, students will have to answer a
series of questions that pertain to prepositions in an allotted time of 20 seconds. Each question will
be shown individually to allow the student to come to their own conclusion in selecting an answer
whether with their name or with a name of their choosing. After the time limit, the correct answer is
displayed with the responses. At the end of the game, the teacher has responses and can then go
over missed questions or reoccurring themes with the class or with individual students.
Universal Design for Learning (UDL): Kahoot! allows for whole-class engagement where the lesson
can feel like a game rather than busy work or study sessions. By utilizing this tool, students remain
engaged and can collaborate with other students while still being able to express themselves in a
manner of their choosing.
Reflective Practice: I believe having this tool will be a very beneficial asset to any lessons that
pertain to prepositions. This single lesson created on Kahoot! can be reviewed and replayed. The
lesson also allows for assessment for the teacher which helps to plan future lessons or the needs of
the students in understanding the concept. The tool can also be changed and updated which I feel is
most important in keeping up with students’ needs and growth in learning.
