This document discusses the concept of sapiosexuality, which refers to being sexually attracted to or romantically interested in intelligence. It covers who commonly identifies as sapiosexual, debates around whether it is an orientation, fetish, or preference. It also discusses criticisms that labeling oneself as sapiosexual could promote ableism, elitism, or become derogatory. Ultimately it suggests that it may be okay to identify as sapiosexual if intelligence is defined broadly and not in a way that excludes or devalues others.

A. Sapiosexual - someone attracted to intelligence. (sexually or romantically) a. accdg to research, people r most commonly attracted either sexually or romantically sa mga taong may above average IQ up to 120. PERO, sabi sa research pag lumagpas na ng 120 nagdedecrease na yng attractiveness B. Sino nga na mga sapiosexuals? (who most commonly identifies as one?) a. LGBTQ+ (allies) - they identify as non-binary; not really male/female; not hetero/homosexual b. More common among younger people interacting sa cyberworld C. Orientation or a Fetish? Or maybe preference lang? a. Some youngsters sexually identify as sapiosexuals. Some dating apps even allow users to select their gender as “sapiosexuals” b. Others consider this as a fetish. (madali maturn on pag matalino ekek) c. Minsan “type” pang talaga ng mga tao ung mga “matatalino” so preference lang
III. Criticisms on Sapiosexuality (10 mins)
A. Ableist a. Some people believe that sapiosexuality devalues people with different mental abilities. Those who label it as elitist or Eurocentric claim that it over-values Western education and IQ while ignoring other forms of intelligence. B. Elitist a. Almost same sa Ableism pero on a much classist level. Like “sapiosexuals” encourage classist schisms. Example: ayaw mo pumatol ng mga babaeng hindi kilala si Shakespeare. Or mga babaeng hindi abogado or hindi nakatapos ng college. C. Derogatory a. While some put sapiosexuality on a high pedestal, modern times evolved in such a way na ginagawa nang katatawanan ung mga taong nagdedescribe sa sarili nila as “sapiosexuals” b. It became commonly used as a satirical representation of the self na nagiging derogatory na sya. e.g. mga babaeng nasa bumble na laging may “sapiosexual” sa bio hindi tinetake seriously and usually ginagawa nang katatawanan. kasi once na tanungin mo abt something technical, they wouldnt know.
IV: Bottomline: Is it ok to be labeled as a sapiosexual? (15 mins)
a. Suggested Answer: It depends on how you define the term. If you think you literally sexually identify as a sapiosexual (in a very pansexual way) and consider it an integral part of ur identity, then yes, you may be considered as a sapiosexual. If attracted ka lang talaga sa intelligence in whatever manner, it still counts. b. So assuming you really identify as a sapiosexual, would it not harm the queer community? 1. Suggested Answer: So long as you dont use sapiosexuality to exclude others of various genders, theres nothing wrong with it. Most criticisms are based on classism. So if you truly are a sapiosexual, hundi superficial ang magiging tingin mo sa intelligence. e.g. yung mga taong gusto lang yung mga nasa opposite gender becaysw of educational attainment or grades sa school. If hindi superficial tingin mo sa intelligence, you wouldnt really be harming the LGBTQ community so it would be ok to identify as a sapiosexual c. it would all depend on how you define “intelligence”
