Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of


migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental

Context:
IOM is committed to the principle that safe and orderly migration is a benefit to migrants and
society and is essential for achievement of the Millennium Development Goals. As a global
intergovernmental organization, IOM supports governments to effectively manage the
various challenges related to migration, and also provides assistance to migrants. In the
health sector, this involves acting as a technical agency to address national priorities and as
an implementing agency which partners with government, communities, and other agencies
to strengthen health systems to meet the needs of hard-to-reach mobile populations,
migrants, and their local host communities.
Within the context of promoting safer migration, IOM's Eastern Myanmar Health Programme
comprises several projects that extend the reach of government health systems to locations
which host internal migrants and are also transit, source, and return communities for
international migrants. IOM's programme involves close partnership with government
counterparts and builds capacity of partners and migrant hosting communities for health
promotion, diagnostics, referral, treatment, and for extension of service delivery to
vulnerable groups. The comprehensive package addresses key health challenges faced by
migrants, including maternal and child health, tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, malaria, and in some
locations primary care.
Core Functions / Responsibilities:

Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and the direct supervision of M&E
assistant in Mawlamyine Township, Mon state, the incumbent will be responsible for

 Compile reports from all reporting units or service delivery points (Outreach Health
Workers,Township Community Project Assistant, clinic, laboratory and mobile
team)

 Entry of data from paper-based document into electronic database under the
guidance of Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant

 Conduct pre-entry data verification and post-entry data verification of reports on


routine basis

 Undertake frequent visit to project sites to explain about data collection tools,
reporting guidelines and promote data quality assurance

 Update to complete cohort database and migrant database Maintain the project
information and database system to a high level of accuracy and completeness,
and keep the records and reports systematically for auditing purpose

 Ensure effective implementation of database back-up

 Assist to prepare monthly report and provide quick retrieval of project achievement
and results

 Thoroughly following M & E guidelines, the incumbent will perform monitoring and
database function under the guidance of Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant

 Support collection, entry and cleaning of data for project and migration related
assessment, survey and research activities

 Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience


Education and Experience

 Myanmar national with University Degree with two years professional working
experience in relevant working experience.
 Experience working with international organization, non-government
institutes/organization is an advantage.
 Experience in usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel,
PowerPoint, etc.)
 Experience in data entry and knowledge about health data is an advantage
 Application of Microsoft Access is an advantage

Languages

 Fluency in English (oral and written) and in Myanmar
