3. What is the importance of providing feedback in creating the environment for learning?
Feedback provides a sense of engagement and interactivity, it allows learners to take
ownership of their learning. Feedbacks are important parts of any learning experience, from
class activities and assignments, to peer-reviewed manuscripts, feedback is essential for
growth and learning of the students. Effective feedback shows learners their current level of
performance, and lets them know what they need to do to improve and reach a higher level
of learning.
4. Often times, video clips and interactive media are used by the teachers to summarize the
content of their lesson or given at the end of the lesson. Can they be more powerful if
they are used at the beginning like the advance organizer? Why?
Video clips and interactive media helps in the sharing of ideas, thoughts and information
in teaching-learning process in the classroom. It is very useful in supporting students
learning process and it also helps teachers in teaching students easily and effectively.
Using these in the beginning of the instruction is more advantage because it catches the
attentions of the students, when they are focused in the instructions it produce a
meaningful and deep learning experience. And also, using these interactive media
engages students, aids student retention of knowledge, motivates their interest in the
subject matter and illustrates the relevance of many concepts.
5. How does non-linguistic representation help the students develop understanding of the
lesson?
Non-linguistic representation of an idea is important in developing understanding
of the lesson. Non-linguistic representation is one of the most efficient ways to teach
vocabulary. It allows the students a way to connect to prior knowledge and a way to help
remember definitions. The use of non-linguistic representations provides students with
the chance to illustrate their understanding, ask new questions, refine their thinking, make
connections, organize key concepts, and create mental images without being overly
concerned about grammar, spelling, and their English proficiency.
