Integrating RIM BlackBerry with MachPanel


This article describes in detail about integrating RIM BlackBerry Server 5.0 with MachPanel Control Server

Pre-Requisites:
kindly make sure that below pre-requisites are met in order to integrate BlackBerry Server. MachPanel Control Server has been installed, if not then follow below KB article: http://kb.machsol.com/Knowledgebase/Article/50261 MachPanel Remote Server has been installed, if not then follow below KB article: http://kb.machsol.com/Knowledgebase/Article/50262 Microsoft Exchange 2010 has been integrated with MachPanel, if not then follow below KB article: http://kb.machsol.com/Knowledgebase/Article/50264 Also make sure that MachPanel Control Server and MachPanel Remote Server are on same build and also MachPanel Provisioning Service is running on both servers.

Procedure:
1) Go to exchange server for which you want to enable wireless services and open Exchange Shell. Run this command to create a new Global Address List: New-GlobalAddresslist "BES Global Address List" -IncludedRecipients allrecipients 2) Now edit security permissions for BES Global Address List. Open ADSI Edit on the exchange server. Right click on ADSI Edit and click 'connect'. Connect to Naming Context-> Configuration:

Now navigate to the path shown in the below snapshot:

Right click on CN=BES Global Address List and open its properties. Go to the security tab. Click on 'Authenticated Users' www.machsol.com Page 3

and uncheck all the permissions. Now click on 'Add User' to add the blackberry user which you had created for the installation of Blackberry Enterprise Server. Now check 'Read' and 'Open address list' permissions for this user. Also change 'Apply to' for this user to 'This object and all descendant objects'. Click Apply and then OK. 3) Download and install BlackBerry Administration Toolkit. 4) Create besadmin user from BlackBerry Administration Service. For this open BAS and log in with the account which you created for BlackBerry installation. Under 'BlackBerry solution management', click on 'Create an administrator user'. Set display and username: besadmin, Authentication type: BlackBerry Administration Service, role: Enterprise Administrator and its password (for example: Passw0rd). After the user has been created log off and then log in again with the newly created user to confirm the user creation and credentials. 5) Open BlackBerry Administration User toolkit and run this command: besuseradminclient -set_client_auth besadmin -set_p Passw0rd *In the above command you have to give the password you set when creating besadmin user from BAS(i set the password for besadmin to Passw0rd) 6) Finally, update GAL by running this command in Exchange Shell :Update-GlobalAddressList "BES Global Address List"

7) Now open MachPanel Control Panel Website (You can do it by opening MachPanel Control Server Configuration Studio and
then navigating to Configure > Control Panel Website, and then clicking on the URL in it). Log in with the provider credentials. 8) Navigate to Home > Service Director > Wireless Services > Server group and then click on Add Server Group.

9) Adding the BlackBerry Server is a two-step process. In first step you create a Server Group. In this step provide Server Group Name, select provider: BlackBerry 5.0 and Exchange Server Group for which you want to provide wireless services:

Server Group Name: This is the friendly name of the server group Provider: Select BlackBerry 5.0 from the drop down list Exchange Server Group: Select the desired Exchange Server Group against which you want to enable BlackBerry Services Fill Style: Select from one of the two options Least Filled First: Setup hosting on the group member which is least filled One-by-One: Setup hosting on group members in circular manner

Automatic Provisioning: If checked the system will automatically provision accounts on group members. If cleared, system will not provision account Enabled: If unchecked, system will not provision any accounts on the server group members 10) In the second step you add the server to the server group. Fill in the required details. Also provide the correct path to the BES Admin Client, if you had chosen the default location then it is located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Enterprise Server Resource Kit\BlackBerry Enterprise Server User Administration Tool Client\BESUserAdminClient.exe

IT Policies: Enter the IT policy which should be applied on the newly provisioned device. Enter Default if you havent created custom IT policies Default Handheld PIN: This is the default PIN set for newly provisioned devices. Auto-generated Password Length: Enter the maximum length for auto-generated password Auto-generated Password Type: Select AlphaNumeric from the list Password Expiry Time: Default setting is 48 hours Maximum Accounts: Enter maximum number of BlackBerry activations that you would like to create on this particular BlackBerry server. Current Accounts Load: Currently enabled number of mailboxes After filling the appropriate details, click 'Save' 11) Now check the integration status be navigating to the path in the below snapshot and hit 'Test Service':

If you get the below Test Report then you have successfully integrated BlackBerry with MachPanel
