Task:

Water samples were collected from ten sampling stations in different locations along the
Skudai river and its tributaries. In-situ data measurements such as dissolved oxygen (DO),
pH, temperature, conductivity, total phosphorus, nitrogen, and turbidity were taken on-site and
analysis for the parameter such as BOD, COD, SS, and NH3-N were conducted in the
laboratory. The results of water quality data analysis are shown in Table 1.

Table 1: Water quality status at sampling stations in Skudai River watershed.

You are required to:

1. Calculate Water Quality Index (WQI) for two (2) water sampling stations based on last 2
digits of your student ID (eg: Student ID 2018123456, so the student has to compare
water samples from station no 5 and 6).

2. Assess the class of the water sample for both stations using WQI and Interim National
Water Quality Standard (INWQS).

3. Evaluate the quality of the water samples and justify either the water is suitable as a
resource for the water supply.

4. If the water sample is suitable as a water supply, propose a practical treatment process.
Draw (boxes, lines, arrows) and label (words) a schematic diagram which shows all the
treatment process and its function.
