Chapter 1 Introduction
Safety Information
This section contains safety precautions that should be reviewed and followed when
troubleshooting any IGT machine. It includes safety precautions that pertain to all IGT products.
Use extreme caution when performing the routines within this manual to prevent personal injury
or damage to the machine. Although IGT designs numerous safety features into its products,
servicing of machines is to be performed by qualified personnel.
IGT has provided safety messages in this manual and on the product. Remember to follow all
safety messages and take all recommended precautions.
l When working with either AC or DC voltage, take care not to touch the wires or circuitry
to each other or any other point of contact, including yourself. Use only approved test
equipment that is in good working condition.
l Turn off the power prior to connecting or disconnecting any electronic or electrical
components.
l Take precautions to protect sensitive electronic components from damage before moving
previously installed equipment.
l Disconnect the machine from all power sources before making changes to operating
voltage or frequency. Double check all electrical connections before applying power to
avoid permanent damage to the machine's electronic components.
l Handle all glass with extreme care to avoid breakage or injury from potentially sharp
edges.
l Be cautious when handling all sheet metal to avoid injury due to sharp edges.
l Verify that the machine is securely bolted to a stand before beginning any work.
l Replace safety-critical components with the manufacturer’s recommended parts only.
l During final installation, the machine must be secured as soon as possible when elevated
on the stand.
Extreme caution should be used until the machine is secured.
Safety Messages
Safety messages are included in this manual and affixed to the product hardware. Safety messages
indicate:
8 Machine Specifications
Chapter 1 Introduction
Indicates that serious injury or death may result if the instructions are not followed.
Warning Labels
Depending on the jurisdiction of operation, various components or areas inside the tester may
have adhesive warning labels permanently affixed. These labels indicate potential issues for
operating personnel to be aware of when using the equipment.
Electrostatic Discharge
Electrostatic discharge (ESD) can irreparably damage electronic components. When working on
the floor, always discharge yourself through the metal chassis prior to beginning work.
To prevent damage when working at a bench, adhere to the following general prevention rules.
Before working on any device containing a printed circuit, ground yourself and the equipment to
an earth or building ground. If an ESD pad/workstation is not available or grounding is not
possible, touch bare metal on the chassis to discharge electrostatic charges.
Do not touch a person who is working on electronic equipment. It is possible to “zap” the
equipment through the technician even if the technician is grounded.
Use static-shielding bags or tubes for electronic components during storage, transportation, and
handling.
DO NOT touch edge connectors on boards or cards, exposed circuitry or printed circuits.
Never place sensitive components on any metal surface. Use anti-static, conductive or foam rubber
mats.
Lithium Batteries
Replacement of the lithium battery should only be carried out by a qualified technician. Observe
polarity when replacing the battery.
Improper type or incorrect installation of the lithium battery may cause the battery to
explode and may result in bodily injury.
Machine Specifications 9
Chapter 1 Introduction
l Swallow
l Charge
l Heat
l Expose to open flame
l Disassemble
l Reverse the positive and negative terminals when mounting
l Short-circuit the battery
l Weld the terminal wire directly to the body of the battery
l Use different types of batteries together
l Touch any liquid that leaks from the battery
l Hold for an extended period of time
Always keep the battery away from water. Never store the battery in a hot or very humid place.
The electric potential may remain in a discarded battery. This may lead to distortion, leakage,
overheating, or explosion if the battery comes into contact with other metals. Cover the (+) and (-)
terminals with friction tape or another type of insulator before disposal.
National and local laws relating hazardous chemical disposal must be observed. Contact the
necessary authorities to verify the correct method of disposal prior to replacement.
Hot Swapping
Removing or installing an electronic component before powering OFF the machine/device is
referred to as “hot swapping.” Considerable damage to the component and/or other components
within the machine/device may occur as a result of hot swapping.
Exceptions to this rule are USB devices and Ethernet connections.
l USB flash memory units, called e-keys, are used for program installation and system
upgrades, and must be inserted and removed with power on to perform these tasks.
l Ethernet cables may be removed or inserted with power applied.
Avoid touching the metal connectors when removing or inserting these cables or devices.
Always power OFF the machine/device before removing or installing an electronic
device.
Indicates that potential injury to the product or user is possible if instructions are not
followed.
Indicates that serious injury or death may result if instructions are not followed.

Stand Mounting
The rear of the stand requires two Quick Connect Bolts (See Figure 15-5) to be installed which
allow the EGM to slide into proper position on the stand. Once in place, the standard EGM bolts
easily install into the two front mounting positions.
Care must be taken when closing the door when machine is not secured. Closing force
should be applied downward rather than outward towards the operator.
The Cobalt cabinet requires the slotted bolts to be raised 1/8". Hardware kit P/N
91439801 provides an additional four washers to raise the slotted bolts as seen in
Figure 15-5.
18 IN.
In addition to the stability stand, IGT can supply an optional Stabilizer Kit (IGT P/N
91427500) to modify a standard stand for increased stability. This kit includes
instructions and a template to mount the stabilizers.

Stand Mounting
The rear of the stand requires two Quick Connect Bolts (See Figure 18-2) to be installed which
allow the EGM to slide into proper position on the stand. Once in place, the standard EGM bolts
easily install into the two front mounting positions.
Care must be taken when closing the door when machine is not secured. Closing force
should be applied downward rather than outward towards the operator.
The DiamondRS cabinet requires the slotted bolts to be raised 1/8". Hardware kit P/N
91439802 provides an additional four washers to raise the slotted bolts as seen in
Figure 18-2.
