Back in Manila, Robredo

‘energized’ and ‘ready to
work’

With her two-week vacation in New

York behind her, Vice President Leni
Robredo on Sunday, May 29, said she
is “energized” and “ready to work
again.”

In a Facebook post, the Vice

President shared that her trip to the
United States with her daughters—
Aika, Tricia, and Jillian—was the
“longest vacation I’ve had in 10
years.”

She earlier apologized for not

agreeing to meet with supporters
there, but did it once more time in her
post explaining that she didn’t want
to offend others she won’t be able to
meet.

“We received a lot of invitations for

meet ups and we are super sorry for
deciding not to push through with any
of them. We were there for less than
two weeks and there was not enough
time to see everyone. We were afraid
to just accept some and say NO to
the others,” she wrote.

“I promised the girls that, for this trip,

all my time will be devoted to them.
So whatever lunches or dinners we’ve
had with friends were all, somehow,
connected to them,” she added.

Robredo, who is set to ready her

transition team to endorse the Office
of the Vice President (OVP) she held
for six years to Vice President-elect
and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte,
shared that this trip is the first trip
they’ve had with “no agenda at all.”

Their only agenda was to attend

Jillian’s graduation at the New York
University last May 18, as well as to
“tag along” Tricia’s meeting with
friends in Boston.

“We just walked and walked everyday,

averaging about 15,000-20,000 ++
steps every day. At kumain lang nang
kumain (And ate and ate only),” the
outgoing Vice President said.

However, her two weeks in New York

showed what her “dreams” are for the
country despite preferring to live in
the province.

Robredo said she noticed that New

York is a “walking city” and “very
pedestrian friendly.”

She added that the city, called the Big

Apple, has a “very convenient public
transportation,” such as buses and
subways, and lauded the bike lanes
and bike racks from where bikes can
be rented for a “small fee.”

“There are parks everywhere.

Tinatawanan ako ng mga bata na
gusto ko lang magpa picture sa mga
puno at halaman (The kids are
laughing at me because I just want to
take photos with the trees and
plants),” Robredo wrote, adding that
most old buildings are being restored
which gives “so much character to
the city.”

“Libreng mangarap at libre din pag

trabahuhan ang mga pangarap (It is
free to dream and free to work for
these dreams),” she said.

The Vice President shared photos of

their trips. She posted photos at The
High Line, Central Park, The 91st
Street Garden, and Union Square.

Robredo and her daughters Aika and

Tricia arrived in the Philippines on
Saturday, May 28. Jillian was
reportedly left in the United States
because of a job offer.
