The Honorable J. Brett Blanton

Architect of the Capitol
United States House of Representatives
SD-16 The Capitol
Washington, DC 20515

Dear Mr. Blanton:

Since the inception of the Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United
States Capitol (or “January 6th Committee”), Democrats have engaged in reckless behavior with
blatant and dangerous disregard for institutional norms, the constitutional authority of Members
of Congress, and the security of the Capitol campus. The January 6th Committee has lost sight of
its mandate and abused its authority, threatening the long-term legitimacy of this institution.
Further, I am concerned that the January 6th Committee may have also abused its relationships
with and power over Legislative Branch agencies.

As Ranking Member of the Committee on House Administration, which has broad oversight
responsibilities over the operations of Legislative Branch entities, I will hold the January 6th
Committee accountable for its abuses of power, its damage to this institution, and its misuse of
official resources and taxpayer funds.

Therefore, I request and demand your cooperation in providing to the Committee on House
Administration a detailed response to the following questions:

1. Has the Architect of the Capitol (AOC) assisted the January 6th Committee with
personnel, resources, time, or planning? If yes, please describe in detail such assistance,
including, but not limited to, AOC staff and staff time.
2. Has the AOC been asked by the January 6th Committee to provide—beyond its normal
operations and level of service—additional resources to the January 6th Committee? If
yes, please describe in detail such additional resources.
3. What funds has the AOC expended in total with respect to its assistance to or additional
resources for the January 6th Committee?
a. Have these funds been diverted from other important programs or operations
within the AOC? If so, please provide a detailed response on the impact the
January 6th Committee’s needs has had on other AOC operations.
