Bpts Basic Productivity Tools The Seven Continents
Bpts Basic Productivity Tools The Seven Continents
Lesson Idea
☐ Teacher-directed: There is no student voice and choice in the activities. Students are guided by the
teacher's direction and expectations.
X Student-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the activities. They may select the topic for
presentation and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. Products of
learning will be uniquely designed. Teacher simply facilitates the learning in a lesson like this.
☐ Project-based and/or Publishable: Students are completing projects to demonstrate their learning
and the projects can be shared outside of the classroom. This objective could be reached by
displaying the project on the school’s morning newscast, posting the project to the classroom
blog, presenting it to another class, or publishing it via an outside source.
Lesson idea implementation: To start the lesson we will discuss the seven continents.
Basic Productivity Presentation Tool
Lesson Idea
We will discuss how to know which continent is which based on location and by some
of their landmarks. I will then show them the e-book I created. After, I show my e-
book I will put students in seven groups and let each group pick a continent. Students
will then work with their group to create an e-book about their continent.
Managing engagement: Describe a way to use this technology in a way that gets students
actively involved in authentic tasks and contexts? To manage engagement, I will have
students write out what them plan to put on each slide by using a storyboard. I will also give
the groups about 15-20 minutes to come up with their storyboard. After they create a
storyboard they will use that information to make their e-book on Microsoft PowerPoint.
