General Electric to break up into three

different companies

different companies looking
after diJferent market sectors. Ac-
cording to a press release the com-
pany will be divided into separate
units focused on aviation, h ealth
ca:re and energy. GE plans to spin
off the health-ea1·e unit by early
2023 and the energy unit by early
2024.
In a statement accompanying the
announcement the CEO Lawrence
Culp said "We are putting ow· tech-
nology expertise, leadership, and
global reach to work to better serve
ow· customers." The company ex-
pects to take a one-time charge of
$2 billion related to separation and
operational costs and tax costs of
less than $500 million.
Scott Strazik will head the com-
bined Renewable Energy, Power
and Digital business and Peter Ar-
duini will lead GE Healthcare,
while Culp will beoome the head of
Aviation the company said in a

pects to reduce debt by more than
$75 billion by the end of2021, com-
pared with 2018.

Surge arreste rs a re used to p ro tect 1he insulation of a system from ove r·voltag e
transients caused by external(lightning) or internal (switching) events. It isalso called
a surge protection device or transient voltage surge suppressor.
This class of device is used to protect equipment in power ttansmission and
distribution systems. When a powerful electric surge travels from power system to
the surge arrester, the high voltage current is sent directly to the ground to avoid

The Intergovernmental Panel
on Climate Change (IPCC) and
many other reputable scientific
institutions have called upon
the global community many
times to deploy their resources,
their ingenuity, come up with
a crucial time for the energy in-
dustry as we take stock of the
outcomes of COP26.
Other conferences included
theTechnical Conference, Down-
stream Technical Conference,
Offshore and Marine Confer-
ence and the ADIPEC Forum for
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
ADIPEC 2021 also p1·ovided a
forum for several landmark in-
dustry deals.
These included the $6.2 bil-
lion agreement between Bore-
alis and ADNOC to expand
Borouge's output, and the deal
--
between Petronas and Baker
Hughes to collaborate on tech-
nology to support the energy
transition.
In addition, a major new
green hydrogen venture be-
tween ADNOC and TAQA was
agreed, and a pai·tnership be-
tween Mitsui, GS Energy, and
ADNOC to develop a world-
scale low-carbon blue ammonia
facility was also concluded.

Economic zone to be established

in Islamabad
