Session: 1 Subject: English Literature

Good morning children, I am your English Literature teacher. Today we are going to start with
the first chapter mentioned in your Half-Yearly Syllabus. You have been given the screen shot of page
no.7 as well as its explanation. The chapter has been divided into 3 sessions to make it easy for you to
grasp and understand one part at a time.
You are instructed to first read the text attentively and then it’s explanation thoroughly. Learn
and write the word meanings, questions and answers, and make sentences and do the same in a fair
copy.
 Use a four line note book for English Literature and make sure to do all the Eng. Lit.
work in the same notebook.
 Write the date on the top, left corner and the name of the chapter in the center.
 Parents please make sure the work is done in respective notebooks and not mixed up.
 You can use your rough notebook if you have not bought new ones.
 At the end of the session you will be provided a sample of how to write in a four line
sheet.
CHOTU AND FRIENDS

Summary:

Chotu is an elephant. He is very sad as he does not


have any friends. He goes to other animals like a
monkey, a rabbit, and a frog, asking them to be his
friend. They say ‘No’ to Chotu as he cannot swing
from trees like the monkey. He cannot play in the
rabbit’s burrow and he cannot jump in the air like a
frog.

Ques1. Who is Chotu and why is he sad?
Ans 1. Chotu is an elephant. He is sad because he does
not have any friends.

Ques2. Why didn’t the monkey, the rabbit and the frog play with Chotu?
Ans 2. The monkey, the rabbit and the frog did not play with Chotu because he
was too big. He could not do what they could do.

Ex-C Make Sentences:-
