ABOUT THE CITY
• Swargate is an area of Pune, Maharashtra, India.
• This is one of the busiest areas in Pune.
• The Swargate connects Pune to various areas
like Hadapsar, Fursungi, Dhankawadi, Bibwewadi, etc.
• The areas under Swargate include Guru Nanak Nagar, Mukund
Nagar, and Municipal Colony. The old city of Pune ends here.
Swargate Bus Station consists of two adjacent bus stations in
Pune, operated by the Maharashtra State Road Transport
Corporation (MSRTC) and the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan
Mahamandal Limited (PMPML).
It is located in the locality of Swargate in Pune, opposite the
Swargate Police Station.
▪ The Maharashtra State Road Transport
Corporation operates a bus station a Swargate.
▪ Buses of the Karnataka State Road Transport
Corporation also pass through the bus station.
▪ In 2012, the traffic arm of the Pune Police proposed
to split the bus station into different bus stations
across the city to ease traffic congestion.
Buses bound for Satara,Karad,Belgaum,Kolhapur,
,Hubli, Ratnagiri, Chiplun, Miraj, Sangli, Mahabalesh
war, Bhor, Pandharpur, Tasgaon, Ichalkaranji, Gargo
ti, Gadhinglaj, Ajara, Shirala, Islampur, Vita, Jath, Wa
i, Mumbai, Thane, Palghar and Solapur leave from
the Swargate ST station.
Both the MSRTC and KSRTC operate services to the
neighbouring state capital of Bangalore from
Swargate while the former operates some of its
services to the state capital 4
of Mumbai via Lonavala as well.

ADVANTAGES: DISADVANTAGES:
• Private food stalls. • Lack of cleanliness everywhere inside bus stand and open drains.
• Private bike parking. • The condition of waiting room is worst.
• Bus Petrol Station. • Fans not working, walls are dirty, no dustbins to throw garbage.
• Enquiry counter. • Because of that some people spit on the walls.that passengers sit
• Helpful staff . on the floor.

• Specific route buses are arranged on specific platform to easy
approach for the passengers.
• Sign board and platfrom information available.
• Workshop and service station provided.
• Waiting area provided.
• Bus from different states arrive and depart at the terminal.
• Concession for handicapped , students , under aged ,old aged
and women.
• Charging points for mobile provided.
• No good condition Washrooms/Bathrooms available in the Bus
Stand.
• No drinking water facility is available.
• People are help- less to buy water bottles specially during
summers. Seating capacity of waiting room is less as around
26,850 passengers travelled in a day.
• No police station or security office is present for security purposes
of woman and tourists.Therefore illegal acts take place.
• No government authorised food zone is there. Because of that,
people buy food from local shops which is unhygienic and costly
• No cloak room available.

• No proper changing or restrooms for the government servants.

CONCLUSION:
• Delay of buses are due to some cases: more demand of passengers, depletion of fleet size,
traffic characteristic and frequency of buses.

• Duration peak-hour traffic disorganization of bus scheduling is higher than non peak-hour
traffic.

• Using a exclusive bus lane for bus operation can reduce disorganization Moreover, to improve
bus service in crowed are as, the mixed traffic lanes and exclusive bus lane can be used
together.

• With increasing average speed of bus in exclusive bus laneways and decline running time
between bus stops, can compensate delays at the last stations.

• Due to metro construction there is chaos happening in the area surrounding bus depot and
traffic is increased.

• Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd (PMPML) is the public transport bus service provider for the city
of Pune, India. 17
• It operates 486 routes around the Pune Metropolitan Region including 51 Rainbow BRT routes that partially ply on the
4 bus rapid transit corridors. Since 2019, PMPML has been operating both 9 and 12 m Electric AC Buses at the same
fare as regular buses.
