PART 1. EVALUATE

1. Explain: “Good communication skills help to reduce the barriers erected because
of language and cultural differences.”

Barriers and hindrances are inevitable in purposeful and effective

communication. We, as speakers, are sometimes put into a position where it is
difficult for us to communicate with other people due to the barriers or noises that
are naturally present when we communicate. There are instances where this
barrier or hindrance in communication has led to conflict or misunderstanding
between the people who were communicating with. The fact that we are uniquely
diverse in our race and culture and we have differences specifically in the
language that we speak, and also the fact that some people or nationalities aren’t
able to speak and understand English even though it is our universal language or
secondary language. People must understand that they must also make an effort
to properly communicate and deal with others who are new to them or have a
different culture than them, which is why good communication skills are essential
in order to help and lessen the barriers that language and cultural barriers create.
We, as good citizens, need to show tolerance and kindness to them. We need to
show our respect for the culture and tradition that they have. If we do so, they will
also do the same. They will also respect us and understand the culture that we are
having. From grade school up to secondary or high school, and even outside of
school, we all know that respect, empathy, tolerance, and understanding are
being taught and imprinted on our minds and we are used to it even up to this day.
It is important to have the skills of good communication or how to properly
communicate with others and value it in our lives and become a better person not
just in communicating with others but also in any endeavor that we are into. We
need to learn the proper behavior and humility and always choose and show the
importance of respect to others.

2. According to Lombardo “communication in a workplace is vital to an

organization's ability to be productive and operate smoothly”. Explain it.

In the workplace, school, or any institution surrounded by different kinds

of people, it is unavoidable to have a conflict with some. This may lead to
unproductive work or tasks for a particular group, specifically in the workplace.
Communication is one of the keys to having a good relationship between the
members of a group, and if they manage to communicate and cooperate well,
they will be able to provide a quality type of work or task because all members
are engaged and having a good time working with each other. That is the
importance of having a good relationship and good communication skills so
that we people as members of a certain party or organization know how to
speak rightfully and listen and understand carefully. Each opinion of every
person who’s in the organization is valid and needs to be heard so they will be
able to come up with a quality type of idea and task.

The good listening and speaking skills in how they communicate with each
other will lead to the organization’s productivity and they will be able to
operate and produce a good and standard type of performance that will
actually benefit not just the company or organization but also them as a person.
We must always remind ourselves to think before we speak so we will be able to
not hurt other people’s feelings because it may lead to conflict and the result of
having an unproductive day, bad performance, and more conflict and
problems if the bad communication continues to arise.
