What is the student learning goal(s) for this lesson idea?

The student learning goal is to use the tool to reply and share out their memories of the national
holiday. It is also important for them to read through each other post to know more about their
friends’ cultures and traditions.

Students can perform a higher level by getting creative and drawing their own pictures and choosing their
own post color to reply and answer the questions.

How do you plan to implement this lesson and integrate the technology? Check all that apply:

☐ Teacher-led: There is no student voice and choice in the activities. Students are guided by
teacher direction and expectations. Learning activities are assigned to the
student and mostly practice based.

☐ Student-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the activities. They may select the topic
of learning and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. The
teacher facilitates the learning as the students direct their own learning processes.

☐ Problem-based and/or Publishable: Students are solving problems
and completing projects to demonstrate their learning. Additionally, the projects can be shared
outside of the classroom. (Note: This objective could be reached by displaying the project on the
school’s morning newscast, posting the project to the classroom blog, presenting it to another

Lesson idea implementation:

The teacher will go through the tool first to show the students how it works. It is important to first
let them know how they can reply and even like the post before they are given the task. The
students will be engaged and focused because there are different images and graphics that are
appealing to the eye. Students’ prior knowledge would have to be incorporated in this lesson by
them being able to identify the national holidays. The students will learn though their peers and
through their memories they share. The students will close this lesson by sharing out what they
learned from their peers and if any of the answers were the same.
Managing student learning:
This tool will allow students to be active social learners. One thing that this tool gives is different
ways that they can create their own Padlet for further reference. This tool gives them the ability to
get creative with designing their own Padlet. The assignment is instructional and gives them the
opportunity to first see how it works before them doing the assignment. It is meant to be a
collaboration tool for students.

Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

It allows students to be engaged by sharing out their memories to the class and seeing what other
students learned from it. It gives them a representation of their own culture and traditions they
have. This is often interesting and fun for students to engage with because it allows them to get to
know their classmates better and learn about how others celebrate National holidays. The students
are then able to express what they discovered and share it out with the class.
Reflective Practice:
This is a tool that is not traditional in most classroom settings. Not only does it give students the
graphics and creative backgrounds, but it allows them to enjoy learning. It gives students options for
finding the best way to learn. I look forward to reading the students response but also seeing how
well they use the tool to interact with one another and to likes posts and so on.
